I have lenovo g530 4151, bios is corrupted after failed update and laptop will not start. Can I download original bios file and restore at laptop switch-on via USB (phoenix bios feature with fn+B) or by CD ? Where can I get the bios (.rom ?) file - lenovo site has only the bios update via .exe file which is no use since my laptop and OS will not start ... Thanks for any hints.
Hi, What I would best sugget you if you this kind of issue is to restore your system to its original settings, just look for the small button just beside the power button on your keyboard, it has an arching arrow logo, that key is what we called One Key Recovery that would restore your system to its original factory settings. but just a hint it would also delete everything on your computer so consider bucking up every important files taht you have before proceeding with the recovery. also make sure that the ac adapter is plugin before you press the one key recovery button then it will give the options to choose from, just choose one key recovey then proceed with the factory default recovery, thats it it would now proceed with the system factory default restoration. If you still need some clarifications regarding this issue you could also call the tech support hotline of lenovo

Hi, may i know the exact error message everytime your open the computer.
Hi, I have solved the problem ! To answer potek18, when I started the computer there is no error message, just black screen. The problem happened as a result of a failed BIOS update from XP. To resolve I made the following: using another computer I went to lenovo site and downloaded the .exe file for the G530 4151 BIOS update. Cannot run .exe on another computer, but can open the file with winrar and extract the 1Gb BIOS image file .Wxx file). I copied that to root folder of USB drive. I put the USB in failed Lenovo laptop and start up, having first removed the battery and connected to mains power, and with the start button simultaneously pressing the Fn and b keys as standard for Phoenix BIOS starts from USB. My SB lit up and the laptop made single beep. After about 4 minutes it beeped three times. If I left the USB in the machine the process continued to repeated. Seems this did update the BIOS, because next time the laptop started successfully - I am sure the BIOS did update because the BIOS settings had reset to default values and I had to go in with f2 to change the disk to "IDE" since on Lenovo G530 windows XP will otherwise not start. So, problem solved !
Thanks Potek, I managed to solved my problem, solution described in comments above.
Thanks. The note about IDE saved me lots of time.
