How to fix water leaking out of bottom of Rowenta steam iron

I'm on my fifth Rowenta iron. The first four eventually started to leak. I keep buying Rowenta because I get the best results except for the leaking. I've been using filtered water even though the manual sas to use tap water. I will start o use tap water. The fifth one I bought was highly rated by Consumer Reports. If this new one starts to leak, I'll bring it back and buy a different brand.

How do I fix the steam on/off switch on my rowenta dw9280

I have the same issue. The steam on/off switch fell into its cavity and does not work. Looks like the plastic housing on the top of the iron can be removed, does anyone know how?

Rowenta Focus iron has only been used about 5 times. I use bottle water and iron spits out rust colored residue during steam cycle.

If you mean bottled drinking water, that is full of mineral salts, no good. Use demineralised or distilled water from the supermarket, it is cheap.

Clean the iron first like this

I am having issues with my steam generator iron. I used it today and after heating up steam was pouring out from the screw on cap. Put on new green rubber ring and I can iron with steam until I sit on base...

I think lime and calcification are the culprit. Use some "CLR" at Home depot, can decalcify the build up on your irons pressure cap.

I have the Rowenta Steam Station. Love it!

Issues with Rowenta Steam Iron DG 05030 steam hose

Does your iron have a self cleaning feature? It sounds to me like you have calcium build up and when you squeeze the hose it displaces the "clog" just enough to allow steam through.

What happens if I use CLR in my steam iron? I have an expensive European style iron which is no longer producing steam. I have bought an iron descaler/cleaner and have repeated its use. I tried the...

The steam tank may not be heating because of mineral deposits in the tank. But also do this check first. Open up the tank reservoir cold, and drain all water out, (is it clean inside there when you shine flashlight in there? Rinse with clear filtered water only (low minerals).

Do not use CLR or anything agressive in there. You should have the main unit in full steam mode and the iron control also in full steam mode. Leave one tablespoon of water in the tank, put back together and let the pressure build. Put a clean towel on your ironing board and when iron is at full pressure and heat, hit the burst of steam and look at what comes out of the sole plate. If you see lots of white deposits look at the sole plate and see if the white chunks are coming out steam holes.

When using iron, run it till steam/water tanks are dry, the burst of steam is used in this case to clean the iron of all standing water. Pull the reservoir and allow to cool...once tank is cool drain it as well. Doing this several times should help purge unit of the heavy mineral deposits.

Won't steam

I know it's a silly question but are you pressing the trigger in the handle? If you are then the solenoid valve may have failed

MY rowenta Iron wont produce steam. IT heats up

Sounds like the Steam control valve is blocked or not opening. try cleaning the iron with a kit from wallmart or similar store. Failing that :It may be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.
