Chugs when driving at rpms around 1300 when accerating

Start with checking fuel pressure. Pressure must be at specs before looking elsewhere, like spark plug condition, air filter, air or vacuum leaks, throttle position sensor, etc.

Make sure the fuel jet is clean. Its easy to miss when cleaning the carb. Ive seen a lot of dirty fuel jets that once I clean them out run like new after.

Engine chugs then dies

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1. Battery terminals loose, corroded, or broken. Check negative cable at both ends.
2. Battery nearly discharged.
3. Faulty or corroded Maxi fuse, system relay, starter relay, circuit breakers and fuses.
4. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module, CKP, CMP, MAP and BAS sensor.
5. Pin or spade connectors corroeded, melted, broken or pushed back.
6. Intermittant short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
7. Loose or dirty ignition/electronic module at crankcase.
8. Water or dirt in carburator or fuel system.
9. Faulty fuel pump, pick up tube, pressure regulator or fuel filter.
10. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburator vent line closed off.
Good luck

My 1991 olds mobile cutlass calais wont start, after I added fuel injector cleaner because, the car was having hesistating problems below 25 miles an hour and it might of been a spark plug problem or fuel...

When you chaged the air filter & sprayed Gumout carb cleaner, you got rid of a little gunk in the
air intake, but when you added the fuel injector cleaner (its the same stuff as carburator cleaner) to the fuel tank, you "cleaned out" ALL the ****/gunk/buildup/dirt in the fuel system which has built up since 1991 and sent it straight to the fuel filter, which is now clogged. The reason that the car tries to start, but fails, is that it'll successfully burn up any fuel that gets past the clogged fuel filter, but the engine consumes that small amount of gasoline quickly, then dies.
Your solution: change the fuel filter.
The fuel filter is located:
Under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, near fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line

R1150rt. after a fuel stop it died on the road, changed the fuel

Carburator clean up could help solve the problem, it seems some dirt may have entered the float chamber!
Blow the jets with compressed air.
Hope this helps!
