HEADPHONE SPEAKER WIRING

My friend has a new Hitachi Midi stereo system which surprisingly has no headphone socket. I have put together an in line switch to turn the loud speakers off and bought a stereo headphone jack that will be placed on the system side of the swich but I get no sound from the jack. I have tried soldering to all three combinations of the connectors inside the stereo jack with no luck so far. Can you confirm which connectors inside the jack should be used if wiring from a +ve and -ve speaker output? Can I get this to work or is there some reason it never would?

Thanks Neil

Try using colored wire with the copper....colors act as sound carriers and copper acts as power only connect the copper one with ONly 1 color tho .......just try having everything on and just touching the wires together before sodering

Rx v2095 has problems with headphones.

All speaker / headphone combos should have a stereo switched headphone socket.
It could be that the spring-steel switch contacts in the socket are not opening for some reason - jammed by nearby stray wiring etc, or a possible short on the board, say between the solder pads at the headphone socket.
When phones are out, switch contact(s) are closed, completing circuit from amp to speakers or bigger power amp section to drive your wall-shakers.
When headphones are in, the speakers are disconnected and the audio is fed via the contacts to the phone jack-plug's tip and ring, instead.
Short story - Isolate power, remove shell, inspect and test.

How can I fix my aspire 5349-2804 headphone port?

Power output on a headphone socket is not great - depends on the headphone and speaker resistance - have you tried a cheap pair of in ear headphones to see if it is the headphone socket.

Headphone socket does sometimes break like the power socket its one of the most common problems on a laptop.

If so its not difficult to find a new headphone socket or even re-solder the old one - it may be a dry joint!

Are you getting sound through the laptop speakers for a start.
The headphone socket should interrupt the main speakers automatically so there is no setting in sounds and devices in windows that would cause your problem.

I have a CD Stereo system SA-AK17, 120V, 145W, without speaker. I provided 2 speaker with the brand of Technics, input 200W(.music), 100W(DIN) each speaker. I bought Audio wire and connect speakers...

Some stereo system have the ability to switch off the speakers when playing via headphones. In others the headphone socket itself does the switching. However headphone sockets can become faulty and when the headphone plug is removed it doesn't restore sound to the speakers. It's very easy to fix this, with a check that the contacts are not bent out of place. Or you can rewire a new headphone socket, making a note of the wire connections before you replace it.
Sometimes it is quite difficult to get the speaker cable to make a good contact with the speaker sockets. You should check that they are making contact.
To test any loudspeaker just connect a 1.5 battery for a short time across the disconnected speaker. If working the speaker will pop!
As the sound is going to the headphones the amp seems to be OK and one of the above options should correct the problem.

I am only hearing audio out of my left headphone speaker when plugged into the Tascam US-122. how can I play back my tracks and have the audio fill both speakers?

you might be using a mono output jack or input jack.....check the jack end...1 ring = mono / 2 rings = stereo
make sure your sending a stereo signal in, then check the L/R balance.

Sound problem

ok me too, since i install the win 7 in my sony vgn-fz15g, the sound is also coming from speaker too while headphone is connected, and earlier in vista it disable the speaker automatically, i check the sound window, in win7 speaker/headphone is given together, i can not disable one at a time, i think its a driver problem, sony customer care people told me that they have still not tested this model on windows 7 so thats why they are not releasing the driver, if any one have the link for he latest sigmatel high definition driver then let me know that, because this is the complete problem

Plugging in keyboard

MIDI only carries digital information, not audio. Midi is used to communicate patch settings and note value information. If you want the recording to know the note value, then you should use midi. This is useful if you want to do things like adding rythm tracks, etc.

If your keyboard has audio/line out (as opposed to headphone out), use that, as it is matched much better in impedance. If it doesn't have audio/line out, then you can use the headphone jack, but you will have to turn the attenuation way down because the headphone jack impedance is much higher. This will tend to distort on the recording if you are not careful.

The first thing to know about digital recording is that distortion is much more of a problem. I won't get into the theory of this, just know that impedance mismatching is more of a problem with digital.
