Hello shapscomp
The blinking green light is likely your Ethernet card's LED. Is the blinking light located near your Ethernet (network) cable?
It sounds as though your power supply has failed. You may be able to purchase a replacement power supply for it.
Would you like some assistance in deterimining if that is the case?
Thank you
BJ
Another suggestion:
If your computer is connected to a UPS or a power surge protector, plug a lamp or some other electrical device into the same socket where you have the computer plugged in and see if it (the lamp) works. (This is to ensure that the issue is not w/ power supplied to the computer).
I should have asked you where the blinking LED was located. When people post here, we have no way of knowing their level of expertise. Since the majority are fairly inexperienced w/ computer maintenance and repair, we often make assumptions regarding what people are seeing or experiencing.
Providing all the information you think is relevant when requesting help goes a long way toward our being able to one, assist you, and two, get a rough idea as to your level of expertise.
Please, give us a chance to clarify b4 assigning a Thanks for Trying rating.
Having said that, please, go HERE for information regarding addressing the issue you are experiencing.
Thank you

It is not the ethernet light. It is a light about 2 inches below the plug in the rear. I have had this happen to other computers, and by disconnecting the plug and holding in the power button one can dissipate the power, which happens here. When I go to plug it in the blinking starts again..
I have tried plugging the unit into other outlets.
