I cannot open wrt120n firmware...what program will open it so I can save it?

In the Administration area of the router, you have the option to do a Firmware Upgrade. Once there, you can browse to the firmware file you'd downloaded earlier. No need to use any program other than the smarts within the router itself. DON'T do anything while the router is upgrading firmware!

Trying to configure my Linksys WRT120N router, but when I click 'Save Settings' I get an error message (324). What's wrong?

I think you can try upgrading the firmware on your router,

Connect the computer to the router.
Download the latest firmware.
Open the setup page of the router and upgrade the firmware.
After upgrading the firmware, reset the router and reconfigure it manually.

See How to upgrade firmware on Linksys router.

Forgot my password for wrt120n

Looking for the Linksys WRT120N default password? You probably have little reason to access your router on a regular basis so don't feel too bad if you've forgotten the WRT120N default password.

However, when you're troubleshooting a network problem and need to get in to the device, the WRT120N default password suddenly becomes very important.

For most versions of the Linksys WRT120N, the default password is admin. As with most passwords, the WRT120N default password is case sensitive.

In addition to the WRT120N default password, you can also see the WRT120N default username and WRT120N default IP address in the table below.

Note: The Linksys WRT120N default password may be different for certain hardware orfirmware versions.

If I have that information, I'll include the exact WRT120N version number along with the correct default password. You can usually find your Linksys WRT120N version number on the bottom of the router.

Be sure to change the default router password on your WRT120N to something more secure as soon as you're in. Then use a free password manager so you'll never forget your new WRT120N password.
Help! The WRT120N Default Password Doesn't Work!

At some point during the life of your particular Cisco Linksys WRT120N, the default password, username, and/or IP address might have been changed.

In most cases, if the Linksys WRT120N default IP address has been changed, the new IP address for the WRT120N will be the same as the default gateway IP address configured for your network connection.

See How To Find the Default Gateway IP Address for help.

In situations where the WRT120N default password or WRT120N default username has changed, you'll need to reset the Linksys WRT120N to factory defaults. You can usually do that via a special button or sequence of actions.

The WRT120N manual will have specific directions for performing a factory default reset. You can download the manual for the WRT120N from Linksys Support.

Please let me know if any of the WRT120N default login data below needs updated. For other questions about the WRT120N default information on this page, see my Default Password FAQ.

I can't connect to the internet w/ my new laptop. I can't find my security key to hook up.

This article documents a known issue with resetting a Linksys WRT120N to its factory default settings.

Symptom: Holding down the reset button on the back of the router does not reset the settings.

1) Download the latest firmware from Linksys (link below).

http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT120N

2) Unplug the router, hold the reset button, and plug in the router while still holding the reset button.

3) Open Internet Explorer, go to http://192.168.1.1

4) Use the "Browse" button to locate the firmware file downloaded from Linksys.

5) Once the update is complete, unplug the router and plug it back in.

6) Hold the reset button on the back of the router for about 30 seconds, a light will indicate when it resets.

7) Allow the router to reset for 1-2 minutes.

8) Open Internet Explorer, go to http://192.168.1.1

9) Enter "admin" for the username and "admin" for the password (without quotes).

Your router should now be reset to the factory defaults!

If you know your way around computers and related devices go to http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index and download the software for your device and install it. This is a much better solution than the stock firmware provided by linksys. !!!!!! WARNING !!!!! if you aren't comfortable installing it don't as you could brick your router. There are plenty of resources on the site to get it installed however.

I just purchased a new router. How do I download the latest firmware available for my WRT120N Wireless Router?

There was firmware just released 2 days ago for that router, you definitely want to upgrade it.

Once downloaded you need to log into the router, go to the maintenance tab / advanced tab and look for upgrade firmware. Then you just point it to this file I have linked for you and it will upgrade!

Please make sure you rate my answer 4 thumbs up, it is extremely important to me. I would be forever grateful if you could do so. If you need more help on this question please just respond to my answer here and I will get right back to you.
