My printer only prints out part of a page and spits it out and then prints out several pages with a few lines of gibberish on each. The printer is connected directly to the computer so it's not a wireless issue. I checked for updates and there are none. I tried downloading drivers but my printer doesn't need them. I am using Vista 64-bit. It sometimes helps to shut the printer down and then try printing after turning it on but not always. This has been happening on and off since I got the printer and it is becoming more and more of a hassle trying to print. The scanner and copier functions work fine - just not the printing. Please help!

Vista has died, so you won't get updates. You could install Linux to get a modern operating system. The drivers are included. However, the problem might be in the printer since it's intermittent. It picks up a glitch and from there on it's all gibberish. Try wireless and see if that works.

SOURCE: Error Message "Page too Complex"

Hi Sccfire, This apparently is a fairly common problem with the 2800 series printer and associated with connection to a PC using USB. It can only be overcome by manually configuring the printer?s USB port to work in standard mode rather than at high-speed USB2.0 mode which probably won?t be to much of a problem. Here is a link from a support page on HP?s site that should walk you through the process: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00506095 Let us know how it goes and please don?t forget to rate the posting.

SOURCE: HP PSC 2410 very slow printing issue

It is a cartridge problem. Solution for my hp 3645 (I have the same story as bb18, but different printer) was to remove color cartridge!
The printer is fast now, of course it does not print in color :) (I`m waiting for a new color cartridge) Good luck,
Marcin

SOURCE: My printer only prints gibberish

With the printer on, pull the printer's AC plug from the wall.
Then power down the computer.
Wait 30 seconds, turn the computer on first.
Put the printer's AC cord back into the wall.
After the computer has booted to the desktop, turn the printer on. This should clear the issue.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

SOURCE: prints extra blank page for every one page of printed material BEWARE SPAM NUMBER 1-800-532-4187

Ok, I too have HP Photosmart 7280 and it was spit'g out a blank page after each print page.
I went into the Control Panel/Printers - Right click on the HP Photosmart 7200 series icon and choose delete. Don't worry...just delete it.
Right above (Vista) click on Add a Printer - it's going to ask you if you want to add a local printer which is connected via USB connection or if you are set up wireless then choose Network
It will find your printer click on the printer hit next - then this is the most important step
It will ask you to find the manufacturer it shows Hewlett-Packard and underneath it shows HP - Do not click on HP - you'll have the same problem with that driver - choose Hewlett-Packard and find this driver HP Photosmart C7200 series Version 61.71.244.0 [3/23/07]
Hopefully they are all digitally signed with this information.
Click on that driver and click next - then click on replace the current driver and click next.
Print a test page and problem should be solved. Hope it helped!

Prints a single line of gibberish on 1 page before printing the document, then eventually spits out a blank page. Running on vista, using vista driver. Dell 1720dn printer on Vista Business SP2

Gibberish? What you are seeing may be printer control codes and data.

Is there any way you can scan the page into an e-mail and then send it to me at [email protected], please.

I'd like to see your printout.

I have an old deskjet 1220c. After trying to cancel a large printing project the printer now spits out page after page of one line "gibberish". I've tried turning it off overnight; unplugging it; and...

You have to empty the print que in your computer, You need to open print jobs and delete the job. otherwise you can turn the printer on and off several times while connected to your computer and it will eventually clear.

It prints gibberish before the print job.

I have had this happen before, this could be you need to change the drum kit on the printer itself, check the indicator light.

Prints gibberish when a multi-page color document is printed

This could be a driver issue. Without knowing exactly how your printer is connected to the network I'm making a rough guess here.

There is a Universal HP Printer driver that could be tried as well as the PCL5, PCL6 and Post Script drivers.

I've had issues with the PCL6 drivers before doing this and I usually install the PCL5 drivers instead.

Printing gibberish then feeding several lines, printing gibberish

If text did not line up as planned, your TOF ( top of forms adjustment ) isn't correct. Just correct it using the button on the panel. If after printing 1 page or so and then it begins to go out of place, most probably you hv set the page lenght incorrectly. To correct, enter the MENU on the panel and set the correct page length.
Lastly if printing garbage, most probably you have selected the wrong emulation on the MENU. Correct by entering MENU mode ( press ' SHIFT+MENU ' button together ) and select the correct emulation.

Hope this helps.
