The USB cable is to download still images only. To download video, you need (1) a firewire cable, (2) a firewire port on the computer, and (3) a video editing software program used to download and edit the video.

Hi, I have a JVC GR-D750AA digital video camera. I do not know how to download the things recorded to my PC. I have also bought the USB cable n tried but the camera USB port is not recogned by the PC. I do...

Turn the power switch on your camcorder to "Off." Connect the USB cable that came with the camcorder to the USB port on the camcorder. If you are using the DV cable, connect one end of the cable to the computer first. Put the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your computer. If you are using the DV cable, connect it to the camcorder. Power on your camcorder. Wait while your computer recognizes the attached JVC GR-D270U camcorder. Typically you will get a pop-up on your screen asking how you want to proceed once the camcorder has been recognized. Open your video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, Roxie, iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. Import, or capture, the video from the camcorder to your computer using the video editing software. For example, in iMovie you click on "File," then "Import from Camera" to download the movie from your camcorder to the computer.

We have sony handycam DCR TRV285E & Window 7 in my laptop. After downloading new software from internet, the pc is not detecting the camcorder , declaring camcorcorder is not connected with i.Link...

The USB streaming driver for theCamcorder is not available for Windows 7 OS from Sony at this point. Hence it is not possible totransfer videos using USB interface. You may use i.LINK or A/V interface totransfer videos from the Camcorder to the Computer which is running on Windows 7 Operating System. Please follow the steps to transfer video to a computerusing an i.LINK connection (IEEE 1394).
IMPORTANT: Video capture software and a compatible video capture card mustbe installed on the computer. Depending on the computer manufacturer, variousvideo capture cards and software (Adobe Premiere, Roxio Video Wave, MicrosoftWindows Movie Maker, etc.) may be available or already installed on yourcomputer. If necessary, contact the manufacturer of your computer for furtherinformation.

NOTE: Many Sony VAIO computers are bundled with Sony DVgate Motion or DVgatePlus software for video capturing. Some VAIO computers also include Click ToDVD software that will allow video capture to the computer hard drive ordirectly to a DVD.
  1. Connect an i.LINK cable (also known as IEEE 1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.
i.LINKCable.

i.LINKport.
rsshajan_27.jpg
  1. Connect the other end of the i.LINK cable to the computer.
NOTE: The computer i.LINK ports and capture cardsmay have either 4-pin or 6-pin connections. Sony digital camcorders use i.LINKports with 4 pins. If your computer only has a 6-pin i.LINK port, then it willbe necessary to use a 4-pin to 6-pin i.LINK cable.
  1. Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
  2. Cue the camcorder tape to the beginning of the video footage.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Start the video capture software on the computer.
  5. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  6. Begin importing the video with the capture software.
It should now be possible to copy the video usingthe video capture software if the computer hardware and software are configuredcorrectly.

Hi,

This solution is only applicable for the selected camcorder models. You can follow the steps mentioned below for the DCRHC36 models.

  • Turn on the computer.
  • On the computer, install the USB driver from the CD-ROM supplied with the camcorder.

Only the USB driver included on the supplied CD-ROM will properly enable the camcorder for USB streaming. The USB Streaming Driver can only be installed from the supplied Software CD.

  • Turn the camcorder on to the PLAY/EDIT mode.
  • Turn on the USB streaming feature in the camcorder menu. P-MENUPICT.APPLI.MenuUSB SELECTSTREAM
  • Connect the USB cable to the camcorder.
  • Connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer.
  • Cue the video to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred.
  • Start the video capture software on the computer. You can try Software like Windows Movie Maker

o NOTE: The computer must have compatible video capture software to complete this procedure. Many video editing software applications include a capture function. If you have video editing software, you might not need a separate video capture application.

  • Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  • Begin importing the recorded video with the capture software.

I cant seem to be able to transfer my recordings to a DVD recorder on my computer The video recorder is a Sony DCR-TRV22E.My computer is PRYON. PRY-i922vp

If the Computer is having Windows Vista installed on it then it's required to use a compatible i.LINK or Firewire cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer.
Once the connection is established, you can use Windows Movie Maker to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the computer. Make sure that the Camcorder is set to the "VCR/VTR" or "Play/Edit" mode and the tape is playing in the camcorder before importing the videos to the Computer.

If you're having Windows XP on the Computer and using USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer then it's required to install the USB streaming driver and the USB driver for connection on the Computer before you can establish a successful connection between the Computer and the camcorder for transferring videos.

You can install the USB streaming driver using the supplied Software installation disc.

Video transfer

If you're using a Windows Vista Operating System it'snot possible to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer using the USB connection. The videos from the tape camcorders cannot be transferred to Windows Vista Operating System as there is no USB Streaming ooption available on the Windows Vista Operating System. The Camcorder uses the USB Streaming function to transfer the videos to the Computer. You may wish to purchase a i.LINK/Firewire cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer in order to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer.
or
There is an update for driver on the Sony website to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer using the USB cable.
http://support.sony-europe.com/dime/downloads/downloads.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&m=DCR-HC42E&f=usbdrven_vista

You may also try installing the driver update for the Camcorder. The i.LINK cable gives a better video transfer qulaity than the USB transfer. The i.LINK cable used to connect the Camcorder to the computer depends on the number of pins available on the i.LINK/FIREWIRE port on the Computer. The i.LINK port on the Computer is a D shaped port which is labelled as i, DV, IEEE1394 and Firewire.
