Frigidaire chest freezer only 2 or 3 yrs old wasn't freezing real well frost/ice had built up around opening so I figured it wasn't closing completely and cold air was escaping. So I shut it off took everything out noted meat at bottom was frozen ok bread and other stuff at top might have been a little thawed. Carefully knocked ice etc off cleaned it out. now it won't freeze at all. No cold being generated whatsoever. Power light is on...but nothing is happening.....left it plugged in overnight still no chill at all.....is something major broken like compressor or something? or is there a reset button or something easy to do? i'm pretty handy and would pull it apart if there was a chance of fixing it otherwise not sure it's worth it to fix. thanks Glenn Frost Model#FFCO723FWO Mfg date 11/07
See if you have 120 volts at the compressor if you do do you hear any clicking sound at compressor if not replace compressor Start Relay/Overload if you hear clicking sound the compressor may be bad or Start Relay/Overload the only way to know is to replace the compressor Start Relay/Overload. If you do not have 120 volts at the compressor jump out the thermostat you should have 120 volts at the compressor now if not you may have a defrost timer Prob. if this is shelf defrost unit check timer turn knob to see if it starts.
