Frigidaire, chest freezer only 2 or 3 yrs old, was...

Frigidaire chest freezer only 2 or 3 yrs old wasn't freezing real well frost/ice had built up around opening so I figured it wasn't closing completely and cold air was escaping. So I shut it off took everything out noted meat at bottom was frozen ok bread and other stuff at top might have been a little thawed. Carefully knocked ice etc off cleaned it out. now it won't freeze at all. No cold being generated whatsoever. Power light is on...but nothing is happening.....left it plugged in overnight still no chill at all.....is something major broken like compressor or something? or is there a reset button or something easy to do? i'm pretty handy and would pull it apart if there was a chance of fixing it otherwise not sure it's worth it to fix. thanks Glenn Frost Model#FFCO723FWO Mfg date 11/07

See if you have 120 volts at the compressor if you do do you hear any clicking sound at compressor if not replace compressor Start Relay/Overload if you hear clicking sound the compressor may be bad or Start Relay/Overload the only way to know is to replace the compressor Start Relay/Overload. If you do not have 120 volts at the compressor jump out the thermostat you should have 120 volts at the compressor now if not you may have a defrost timer Prob. if this is shelf defrost unit check timer turn knob to see if it starts.

How to turn quick freeze feature off (yellow light) on older Frigidaire chest freezer

That yellow light on sonne older modelks is just showingbtge power is on. I never heard of a chest freezer having a "quick freeze" feature. This feature would also require forced air cooling and auto defrost. If the walls get frost on ghr m t hen Im betting that is ju st a power light although it may say freeze or something else like that. Its just so when you see the yrllow light you know there is power.

Just got a used 5.0 frigidaire chest freezer and noticed that it is starting to frost at the top but water is starting to pool at the bottom. any help would be appreciated

Good day,
The interior walls should frost evenly. If you only get a partial frosting pattern then either you have a refrigerant leak or a restriction in the refrigerant lines.
Either problem would be considered a terminal failure in a chest freezer.

Its freezing roun the top and not the bottom?

is this a chest freezer? Thick frost around top? try defrosting unit. DO NOT scrape the ice. Very important to remove drain plug to remove water or frost will very rapidly redeposit

Ice builds up inside packages in freezer.

This is the moisture coming out of the food. It is what causes freezer burn.

The problem is made worse in frost free models by the defrost cylce. Best way to slow it down is to use vacuum bags or freezer bags. Also above 0 F food deterioates faster and below it gets freezer burn and the moisture problem faster.

Chest type freezer icing up real bad

I quick way to test the door seal is take a dollar bill close the door on it if you can pull the dollar out with little resistance the seal needs to be replaced. That is what I am thinking is wrong with unit.
