Canon ZR 45 Won't Eject Tape

Hi- I have a 2002 Canon ZR 45 that has worked wonderfully for years. But today I was rewinding a tape when it suddenly started to make a weird noise, flashed for me to eject the tape, and then began trying to eject it. Unfortunately, it got stuck halfway-- it lifted, but won't actually release the tape. Nor will it go back down (and a big sticker does say to not press that part, so I haven't.) My guess is that the tape inside the cassette is stuck in some reels somewhere. It looks as if the back end of the cassette is open in there. I'm afraid to actually start unscrewing things without instruction.

SOURCE: Cannon ZR 60 camcoder Cassette copartment does not open

Try these steps: 1. Open the tape cover fully until it clicks open. 2. Turn the camcorder on to "VCR Mode." 3. With the cover still open and the camera in "VCR mode," take out the battery. 4. Put the battery back in--out should pop your tape. Although this worked for me, I then inserted and used a head cleaner tape which then became stuck as well. Tried the same trick to eject it, and it did come out after several tries. I will take it for a repair estimate before inserting any other tape.

SOURCE: Canon ZR-800 Mini DV Camcorder tape stuck

The way I can get a tape unjammed on my Sony camera is to remove the battery, plug the camera into the AC charger that is plugged into the wall outlet. Then power the camera on, wait a few seconds. Then unplug the charger from the outlet, wait a few more seconds (camera still in "on" position) and then plug it back in. I have used this method at least 3 times to get the camera to release the tape and finally eject. However, the tape is usually pulled or stretched and I use a small flat head screwdriver to wind the tape back in, but expect that portion of the video to be ruined.

Panasonic PV-L559 Camera is stuck rewinding the tape

It sounds like your camera is experiencing a mechanical issue with the tape mechanism. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the problem:
  1. Power off the camera: Turn off the camera and remove any power sources, such as the battery or AC adapter. This will ensure the camera is completely powered down.
  2. Eject the tape: Look for a manual eject button or lever on the camera. It's usually located near the tape compartment or on the side of the camera. Press or slide the eject mechanism to try and release the stuck tape. Be gentle and avoid using excessive force.
  3. Gently assist the tape: If the tape doesn't eject smoothly, you can try gently assisting it using a small, non-metallic object like a toothpick or a plastic tool. Carefully insert the object into the tape compartment and try to guide the tape back into the cassette while the eject mechanism is activated. Again, be gentle to avoid damaging the tape or the camera.
  4. Reset the camera: After removing the tape or resolving any potential jam, reinsert the power source (battery or AC adapter) and turn on the camera. This can sometimes reset the internal mechanisms and restore normal functionality.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, it's advisable to contact the manufacturer's support or a professional camera repair service for further assistance. They have the expertise to diagnose and repair mechanical problems with the camera's tape mechanism. Make sure to provide them with all the relevant details about the issue and the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot it.

Canon es55 video camera. Everytime I put a tape in, it ejects it. If I take the tape out, and close the door,it will will automatically close and stay closed

Hi,

Please first make sure that there is nothing within the video camera that was accidentally lodged into the space where the tape would fit.

Also, please double check that you're orienting the video tape properly when inserting it into the video camera. I would also test different tapes to see if the issue is consistent.

Also, you might have to rewind each tape because I think if the tape is at it's end, then it automatically leads to the tape being spit out.

Thank you.

My VHS tape is stuck and won't eject or plsy

The transport mechanism ff/rewinds and drives the tape back into the cassette when eject is used.

Most likely a bad belt or the drive idler wheel (rubber or geared). Unit would have to be taken apart to "see" what is not happening.

Tape will not eject / Battery full

while the eject process is trying to happen remove the battery and replace it. keep initiating the eject process and removing the battery and it should finally eject. If you attempt to use the camera again put in a new tape so you don't lose a tape that contains footage you may want to save.
