After unplugging the dryer and shutting off the gas, check for continuity at the coils, high limit switch, flame sensor, and igniter. You will need to unplug each connection before testing with an ohm meter. Each dryer has a different way of coming apart, some have lower panels and some don't. refer to other on-line troubleshooting guides for proper procedures regarding your model number and make.
Gas is dangerous but you do not need to mess with any gas connections to repair any of these items. You will need to check for lint build up and obstructions. If you find failed parts consider getting other parts (belt, front or rear seals) as well. Vacuum any lint front inside the dryer as this can lead to a fire inside the dryer case.
Did you check the entire venting tubes fo an obstruction? The moister sensor will keep the heat off if clogged up with LINT
A gas dryer is nothing to mess with if it does not fire up the flame. Pull the lower kick plate off the front of the dryer, unplug the unit and clean out dust/lint build up. Vacuum as needed.
Then after checking that the gas valve that is connected to the end of the gas line that connects from the dryer to the wall, I recommend you get a professional.
Common failures are the pilot / ignition system / thermocouple.
No way to be more specific unless you provide the brand and model number of your dryer.
Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
