Where to find my new Username and password to re-config the Route
I did something wrong when I ran the Wizard to re-confgure the router. Made an error when specifying encrytion keys. As a result all wireless laptops stopped working. Tried to get into config again using "direct hookup from an Ethernet cable" but D-link would not accept my username and password. Is there a way I could find out what are my new username and password?
Thanks

Re: Where to find my new Username and password to...
You can reset your router, at the back you easily find very little button which indicates that is the reset button. press reset then you will be able to fix your new user name & password.
Thanks
Testimonial: "Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll try it when I am home this evening. On my 2nd thought, I think I would not turn the WEP on after because it will slow down the speed of data transmission. What is your "take" on this?

Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

Please indicate the Model of the router you are referring to.
If its Cisco, first do a no username xxx password nnn command on the existing configuration. Then on the global configuration mode insert a new command with the new username and password. See example below:
Well, there are two possibilities:
1) You don't remember your password correctly
2) Some electronic failure messed up your password settings
I recommend you to reset your router and reconfigure it, first turn off your router then reset your router by using a small pin or tooth pick and putting it in a small hole in the back of the router push just a little the reset button hiding in the hole for about 5 seconds and turn your router back on, the use default username and password to log into the router config, set up a new password and you're done.
Have a nice day :)
You might need to reset the password. In order to do this, follow these directions:
Console into the router, then power cycle it. As its rebooting hit the "break | pause" button on your keyboard, and you get to the rommon1> prompt.
Then type rommon1>confreg 2142 rommon2>reset
The router comes back on as if it were new---answer no to the first question, and sometimes it asks a second question (do you want to terminate autoinstall, or something...)---answer yes to the secondquestion if it asks. Then hit enter and you get router> in a few seconds.
