I'm using P4M90-M7A (Biostar P4M900-M7 SE) motherboard.
I'm upgrading bios at windows XP using UpBios software for bios firmware "4m90m220.bsa" and working fine. After restart, I try another patch " 4m90m305.bsa" it stuck at 79%. After 15min wait, i shutdown the system by off the power.
But it seems that bios corrupt and ask for diskette contained the bios firmware.

Tried to boot up using FDD and can boot win98 dos. But cannot detect the HDD or other thing.
Please advise.
Thanks and warm regards.
The bios upgrade procedure stopped at half , leaving the bios corrupted. The computer now cannot do a regular boot procedure, this is the reason why it cannot recognise some device. If you are still able to boot from floppy, you can restart bios upgrade procedure from floppy. Just download floppy version upgrade and re do setup. Even if you do not find latest bios version, just download a floppy upgrade that is working, so that you can restart your machine regularly , and then do the update to latest version.
If you are not able to complete the bios setup, the only way to fix your motherboard will be flashing the CMOS chipset with a chip programmer device that will reinstall bios straight into cmos chipset.
You can have this done at the service point, in this case consider also replacing your motherboard.

Apparently you do not know very well what you are talking about, your bios is fried and normally won't even startup. The software to reinstall the bios is the bios update, and it won't work in your conditions. You are still very lucky your MB is starting with floppy. Here is the upgrade from floppy. If it still boots from floppy If drive A is still working, do bios update from floppy.
If it does not work that will be because your bios is fried up, that is normal.
At this point you need to get an eprom programmer device and re-program the cmos chipset with bios image, if you know what I am talking about, otherwise call the service or change the motherboard.
This had been a free advice from someone who does this job for living. I will be grateful if you correct the negative rating given.

bsa is a compressed archive format. Find unzipper (bsarc)or download bios from other location.
You need to get a bios update download to use with startup floppy, if there is one, use google.
I am happy to hear this.
In your bad luck you have been lucky because normally when bios is corrupted not even internal floppy use to work.
I am sure this thread will be useful to other users too, thanks for providing all the information on the case.
Well done!

thanks .
i will try.
i download the .bsa file. and how to flash using dos only?
redo setup what. Now only drive A available.
any software to download the file to CMOS?
Find the dos application "AWDFL882.exe" by searching in the net. And download the "4m90m220.bsa" from http://biostar.com.tw and copy this two file to the same boot floopy disk. Note: you need the floopy disk drive attached to the board. The USB Floppy won't work as the bios is corrupted.
Then type command in the A:\ Prompt:
awdfl882 4m90m220.bsa
The process to re-program the EEPROM shall take around half an hour. Be patient. After that reboot the machine.
Then the system back on-line but the biostar logo is different now.
Resolved. TQ...

I don't dare anymore to try the " 4m90m305.bsa" and will remain for the earlier version "4m90m220.bsa".
regards.
