I have a Panasonic KX-TGA400B cordless phone system. We have 4 cordless phones. One of them (phone #3), when we try to page or use the intercomm system, gives us the following message "Busy". The phone itself (#3) will allow you to page & intercom other phones, but none of the phones will allow you to page it.
No one is on this phone when we are trying to page it.
Sorry for being off line so long. If you have not fixed the problem already, I would try de-registering the handset 3 (from both the base and handset), then re-register it, it should re-register as HS 3, unless 1 and 2 are vacant. If that does not do it, de-register just the handset (not at the base), then re-register it to the base, it will grab the next sequencial intercom number. If it is still failing, then the handset is most likely defective. As a last resort, you can try initializing the handset and the base. Let me know how it goes. CG

If you get busy tone in your Panasonic KX-TGA820 cordless phone, it may be due to any one of the following reasons:
1)The called handset is in use.
2)The handset you are calling is too far from the base unit. Check whether the base unit is not so far from the handset
3)There is no handset registered to the base unit matching the extension number you entered. Try to re-register the handset to the base unit again, To know details regarding registering and re-registering, please refer page 38 of the manual, which you can download from the link given below
4)Other units are in use and the system is busy. Try again later. Try to check whether the other units are not using your base unit
In your case there is no problem regarding your cordless phone. The problem might be in your network only. So please contact your network officer immediately.
This is a very common problem with the KX-TGA400B and KX-TGA200B handsets. You need to replace the keypad or send it out for repair. Google "KX-TGA400B improved rubber keypad". Do not use the original factory keypad, the contacts are to small.
This sounds like a radio transmiting problem. This problem shows up first as "choppy transmit" where custimers complane of you sounding choppy or "under water". Google "KX-TGA400B choppy transmit" to find out more.
You have a common "symptom", but it comes from everything from a cracks to bad components in different places on the phone, normally from very light to heavy physical damage, and/or a bad component or two. Not really a user fix, so I recommend you google "panasonic cordless repair center" and you will find a repair facility. Regards, CG
I've repaired thousands of these kx-tga400b phones and we have the only improved keypad that eliminates the common keypad problems for good.
Does the cordless phone have a 3 in the top right corner after it registers to 3? If so, then it is registering correctly. If it THEN consistently says "invalid, please register" there is definitely a problem with the main circuit board and it's not at all common. I've seen a few of these but it's a rare problem. We can fix it but I'm not sure how much luck you would have with any other repair facilities.
If you have the problem intermittently it's probably a bad RF module. That's a much more common issue.
