Try holding the power button down for at least 10 to 15 seconds. That should turn it off. Turn it back on. If this doesn't work, try taking the battery out for a few seconds. If it still comes up with only the blue ring on, called Sandisk tech support to try to get an RMA.

Hey,
do you have subscription with Rhapsody or Napster...???
If you have a rhapsody subscription, try these steps in the following link:
Synchronizing your MP3 player with rhapsody
This player is a little goofy. The normal method to synchronize is through Windows Media Player. But if you go for the Rhapsody subscription, you have to also sync the device through Rhapsody.
Do not use Rhapsody. See if you can get the downloaded songs from Rhapsody to Widows Media Player or another downloading program. If you need any help update the problem.
Good Luck
You have to synchronize your Sansa to a computer that has a current subscription to Rhapsody, and you have to sync the Sansa to that same computer at least once every 30 days, or the Rhapsody songs will stop working. Use a different music service that is free, or convert all of the songs to Mp3 format to get around the problem. If you get a subscription to another music svc, then you must maintain a current subscription with whatever new svc you choose as well.
Your device has to be connected to Rhapsody every 15 to 30 days to verify your account.
If you are connected and signed in, and still receive this message, you should contact Rhapsody Technical Support as the error is on their end. (866-597-5507)
The message refers to your account with Rhapsody.
You need to "Synchronize" with Rhapsody to validate your licenses in which they verify that your account is valid.
You should generally receive this message every 15 to 30 days.
Best of Luck.
I have this same EXACT problem. Call the support system and they may be able to replace it or send you an email. Although I never got the email....
Sorry, and hope this helps.
