If it is an open air sub ( hole with mesh in the center of the magnet) no ports are required, and the box should be sealed on the inside with silicone sealant. If it is a closed air sub ( no hole in the magnet) you need a 50mm port about 120mm long Box size will be 16 inches x 16 inches x 16 inches

I have 4 mtx thunder 8000 15s with the mtx 7801 amp and currently running 2 dual vented 15 inch boxes, what is the best box to use with them? Vented?sealed?ported thanks

It really depends on the music you listen to. 15's are meant to reproduce longer frequency waves, thus lower bass. The box dictates the kind of control and frequency you will be able to product. A ported box is used for mostly hip hop and rap. A sealed box is for more rock, pop, classical. The sealed will give you tighter response (basically the air acts as a cushion, not allowing the cone to reach full excursion easily), and a ported box give little resistance against the cone and allows full movement of the voice coil. Vented is just a ported box. But you can tune ports. I only recommend tuning ports if you are going to competition.

How big of hole do i need for the mtx 6000 thunder 10in

The MTX Thunder 6000 T61544A is a 15" Subwoofer meaning you will need a 15" hole to fit the subwoofer into. The mounting plate that surrounds the subwoofer will extend past 15" allowing you to screw the sub in properly. Be sure to use a box that is at least 12 inches deep (sub is 10 inches deep by specifications + 2 inches for good air cushion behind.

What does the ligtening bolt symbol mean that flashes orange on an mtx rfl 600d amplifier

orange lightning bolt on rfl600d is a short circuit..i learned this with mine when subs caught fire in my trunk...loose terminals, or incorrect wiring for dvc was cause of it on mine.

MTX 12'' sub noise

Sounds like your sub is overextending itself, and possibly losing contact at the voice coil. Overextending will make a weird rattling sound, losing contact at the voice coil will make a popping sound.

I would stick with Kicker or MTX. The best place in my mind to get them is soncelectronix.com
Just try to mach the specs as close as possible. Make sure to look at the recommendations of the subs for the size of the box and the port volume.

I need help tring to put 4 mtx subs in my car

depends on the car.

suvs;
get a box made for 4, the fire towars the headliner or the floor but work. or you can make a U box and fit 4.

to fit 6,
4 in the trunk and if ur back seats sit high enough 1 under each seat.

of a custom box to hold 2 in the front, 2 on top and 1 on each end. = 6... all in one box. loose sound quality but would work.
