I have a Hotpoint HSS25GFTA WW Fridge that has side by side doors with ice/water dispenser in the freezer (L) door. I still get ice fine but my water dispenser has 'died'. The water has always come out tap temp so I doubt the line is frozen. I have seen some talks on solenoids, one for the ice maker and one for the water dispenser. Where are these located, how do I access/remove/replace them and do you have a part number? I am assuming that this is my problem. Thanks

Hello:
It is very common to have the line in the freezer door freeze up. I would start there first. If that's not it then next step would be your water valve which is located in the back/bottom of the fridge. It is a dual valve( one side for ice maker the other for water dispenser). you can check that by taking off the front kick plate and on the bottom freezer door hinge you will see the line entering the door. Follow it towards the under the fridge and you will find a coupling. Disconnect it and see if there is any water coming out when you press actuator on the door .. If yes then its frozen if no your valve is Kaput.

Cheers

SOURCE: Water Dispenser Drips

A common problem I see is people have the wrong kind of saddle valve on their water line. Make sure you don't have a self-piercing saddle valve. You should have a drill type saddle valve on the cold water line. Reason why, not enough water pressure to the water valve on the fridge. This will let the valve on the fridge hang slightly open which will cause a drip. Check this first. You will find info on this in the installation section of your owners manual.

SOURCE: Water not getting to dispenser, but does get to ice maker.

Hi All,
The fix to the "GE/Hotpoint Secret" frozen water dispenser problem is the Dispenser Water Tube Heater Kit, P/N WR49X10173 that can be purchased at Sears. Just a few bucks. My Hotpoint (model HSM25GFRA5A) had the same issue and GE would not tell me anything but required a technician to come out. The technician had no clue but after making some calls found the heater at Sears and ordered it delivered to me. He had to setup a return appointment but I canceled it after getting the parts and fixing it myself. The instructions are in the kit. Since most all GE/Hotpoint refrigerators (same model group of course) use the same parts/assemblies this will work for lots of folks. See pic below. If the area behind the cover looks like this it may be the part. Feel free to email me for help on this ([email protected]). Piece of cake.

Inside my side by side freezer side (hss25gfta ww)

The ice maker water inlet valve has failed allowing water to pass when it is not supposed to pass. The water valve is item 800 of this link. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5203104&diagram_id=24933031#d24933031

Changing the water valve most always returns the ice maker operation back to normal.

Water to door stopped. I replaced filter. Still no water to door.

the line could have froze in the door,or you have a bad water valve,go to the back of fridge, disconnect the water line and hit the dispenser to make sure it's the valve,if water comes out you know the line is iced up,if it is you can use a hair dryer and heat up the door where the bottom hindge is half way up the freezer door and hit the area where the ice dispenses out the door,

We have a Hotpoint side by side fridge. It always makes

check the door in the dispenser if moisture is condensing and freezing so that the door won't open try manually popping the door open just before you attempt to dispense ice, maybe you'll get lucky, otherwise your going to have to get a technician to come and check the micro-switch for the dispenser

Hotpoint fridge dispenser works on water but not ice

If the little green lites show up , you do not need a circuit board . If you get a hum or buzzing noise when pushing for CRUSHED ice , then the auger motor is frozen up . Remove the ice bin and use a hair dryer directly on the forks which turn the dispensor . The heat will transfer into the motor , defrosting the armature . Try closing the freezer door ocassionally and pushing the arm to test if forks turn .
