First you should have installed the scanner in the computer using the cd comes with the scanner.

  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the <Open> button. (The paper output tray will open.)

  2. Load paper in the auto sheet feeder or the cassette in the portrait orientation.

  3. Lift the document cover and set a document on the platen glass.

    MEMO:

    - Regardless of the document size, set it in the landscape orientation.

    - Place the copying face down on the platen glass.

    - Align the document with the alignment mark (shown as the arrow) on the lower right corner of the platen glass.

Note: The machine cannot scan the area approximately 3 mm from the front and right edges of the platen glass.

Can I scan more than 1 image/document into a file please?

You should be able to do that if you scan as a pdf file. Then "add to" as you scan more pictures.

I want to scan a doucument on the PIXMA MP500.

You must have got a CD with the printer. Just install it and load the paper in the scanner and press the scan button on the front panel. It automatically starts to scan and shows you the document. Later it will ask you whether to save it as a JPG file (as image) or a PDF file (document).

My Canon PIXMA MP500 won't scan.

See to it that no other stickers or lock that won't allow to run of read the scanner in your printer.

Usually this kind of settings are very difficult if also you don't read the manual or procedures on how to use it.

If you encounter like this that your printer won't scan. Not for thinking but you send it to Canon Center or Computer Shop near in your place.

Good luck.

Won't scan

The scanning feature is much more sensitive to connection signal strength than the printing function. Make sure the USB connection is firmly in place on both the computer and the MP500. If this doesn't fix the problem I would try a different 6 foot length USB cable.

PIXMA MP500 - no idea how to scan an image from printer to MACOSX

You should be able to go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, under that list you should see Scanner and Camera Wizard. Once the scanner and camera wizard starts up follow the directions they give you there. Just make sure before you do all that, that the document is on the scanner ready to be scanned.

Canon mp500 onlt scans part of the page

I was very frustrated by this problem too, but just found a fix at last!!

Instead of focussing on the settings on the scanner itself. Use the MP navigator software to change scan settings and get around this problem. there you can set document size, colour or black and white and even DPI (quality) .
