Reboot. Remove battery and wait for 5 seconds. Put it back on. Enter 'Recovery Mode'. There will be some hardware button combination to enter Recovery Mode like Power+Volume Up+Volume Down. After entering, depending on your phone, you might have to navigate through physical buttons.
You will find 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Dalvik Cache'. Do both.
And then Reboot normally. Now see if you can get the launcher working on your phone.
If that doesn't work, press home key, see if you can open some browser application or Play Store and download and install a new Launcher.
If that doesn't work, but you can somehow access settings, go to settings->Apps and clear data of your Launcher App.
If that isn't possible then, go to Recover Mode again and do 'Reset Factory Defaults'. This should make your phone feel just like when you brought it.

Are you using a launcher you downloaded? If so, it may be that it is having issues and not opening all your applications. To fix this you can revert to the default launcher by going into settings, finding the name of the launcher that isn't working and pressing "Clear Defaults", when you press the home button, make sure to choose the default launcher and then try to use your apps again.

I don't think you can do that because it is the Samsung built-in/default launcher and it comes pre-loaded with your tablet. If you don't like it (I assume that's why you would want to get rid of it), install other app launchers, such as Apex Launcher, Nova Launcher, etc. from the Play Store and use any of those as your app launcher.

Hey Speedy Aristotle the UI you have is it self a launcher. But you can download various launchers from google play store like GO launcher that is free but you can have paid application too. This is only for the Android phones.

A Hard Reset (Full Erase) will erase installed applications, application settings and data.

1. From the Home screen, touch the launcher icon.
2. Touch Device Info > Reset Options > Full Erase > Full Erase.

Cellular device viruses are very rare. Should you find an 'anti-virus' in a marketplace, I would simply avoid them. They are not necessary and many of them will populate with false alarms requesting you spend money to protect your device.
As for themes, your phone is equipped with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface. You can move your icons and applications around, and you may change your background, but other than that your customization options are limited.
You may try and disable TouchWiz for a different look by going to Settings, then Applications, select the Running Applications option and find TWLauncher and force close it. This is supposed to send the phone back to the stock Android launcher; On some devices TouchWiz will restart immediately with no visible effect. Stopping this process will not cause damage to your phone, nor should it cause a malfunction of any sort.
You can also check the marketplace for Launchers, such as ADW Launcher, which is much more customizable than TouchWiz.

This phone is running android 2.2 im assuming. The voicemall Icon can be romoved from your home screens by long pressing on it and moving it to the trash area depending on the launcher. If you are trying to remove the app itself this is not possible unless the phone is rooted. Im not sure if this is advisable though. If your phone is rooted a safer measure might be to use bloat freeze to freeze the application so it never runs. Or root uninstaller will allow you to remove the app all together. hope this helps kidromulous

The easiest way to change the theme or look of the LG Optimus (or any Android phone for that matter) is to download a new launcher. The Launcher is like the desktop for Android, where you can place widgets and app icons. There are different Launcher's available to download from the Android Market, and some of them can be themed and dramatically change the look of your phone. There are multiple good ones that can be themed. Just go to the Android Market, search for ADW, OpenHome, GO Launcher EX, just to name a few that can be themed.
Once you install the new Launcher, when you hit "home" it will bring up options to choose which Launcher you want to use. Don't select "use as default" until you're sure you want to settle with one of them. (*if you do select use as default, and then want to change again, see the note at the end of this)
If you go back to the Android market, and search for ADW themes, OpenHome themes, etc., you should see quite a long list of various themes for each launcher. Install one you want to try, then hit home. You'll need to apply the theme in the Launcher's settings, which is normally accessed by (from the home screen) hitting the menu button, and then "preferences" or "adw settings" (if you're using ADW). From there, depending on the Launcher you're using, find the section that has to do with "Themes" or "UI". From there, you should be able to select and apply the theme you just downloaded and installed. It can't hurt to download a few if you want to test a few.
Changing Launchers is a great way to change the look and feel of you're phone, as a lot of them run much smoother than the Launcher that comes default on the phone.
*If you set a Launcher as default, but want to change it... the easiest option is to download "Home Switcher for Froyo" from the Android Market, and use that to change between Launchers. The longer was is to go into Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications, find the Launcher you're using, click on it, and select "clear defaults". Then when you hit the "home" button, it should bring up your options again.

Click setting, then applications, then manage applications. You will be able to remove the apps from there.
