Reassemble of handle on upright

Place handle half with the posts that hold the screws facing up.

silver pole with hole that goes completely throuigh goes over lower screw post (Long side)

static wire - L shaped end goes in small hole on opposite side of handle just below
vacuum switch hole, curve of wire should follow curve of handle and fits into top of
silver pole and pushes againt it providing push to hold siver pole.

Oreck XL 2200 Bagged Upright Vacuum
I have a L shape wire left over on reassemble of my handle on my upright Oreck. One end hooks into a hole on the handle shaft where does the other end go?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I suggest that the upper handle for the Oreck XL2200 should just be help on by sliding the handle over the upper handle assm and there is one screw that you use to tighten the hand e to the upper section, the lower handle assm just slides in to the lower motor assm handle and so does the top.
