Same thing here, opened up the handle to splice together a cut wire and the odd spring mechanism consisting of a somewhat "U" shaped wire that is bent differently on either end. I did see that orginally it was through the hole at the top of the shaft part of the handle.

Replaced on/off switch but handle won't stay on the shaft. There are no screws that go through the handle & the shaft to hold it on. Am I missing a piece or just doing something wrong? My wife took the handle off while I was at work so I don't know how she got it off.

Place handle half with the posts that hold the screws facing up.

silver pole with hole that goes completely throuigh goes over lower screw post (Long side)

static wire - L shaped end goes in small hole on opposite side of handle just below
vacuum switch hole, curve of wire should follow curve of handle and fits into top of
silver pole and pushes againt it providing push to hold siver pole.

hope this helps

Reassemble of handle on upright
Oreck XL 2200 Bagged Upright Vacuum

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I suggest that the upper handle for the Oreck XL2200 should just be help on by sliding the handle over the upper handle assm and there is one screw that you use to tighten the hand e to the upper section, the lower handle assm just slides in to the lower motor assm handle and so does the top. I was not aware of any wire for the handle assm. Feel free to contact the Oreck Corp factory phone number listed below or call your local vacuum dealer in the yellow pages.

How do I replace the motor brushes in an Oreck xl upright vacuum? I have the motor out, but I can't figure out what holds the long brass brush holder in the plastic motor housing

im holding an oreck motor as i write this and to the right of where the plastic casing that holds the brush there is a small round plastic piece sticking up, around that should be a metal coil which slips over the plastic piece the theres a piece of the metal wire on one end is the coil the other end is like a hook which hooks into the plastic housing piece causing a sort of resistance, like a spring action. good luck

How do I access a wiring diagram for handle switch assembly on an Oreck XL upright vacuum?

Go to www.hescoinc.com. Click on schematics under information on the left side of the page, then click on Oreck and find your model. Hopefully that has enough detail for you. You can order parts from them too at prices lower than most other distributors.

How to replace power cord hook

The lower cord hook is held in by a screw removed with a phillips screwdriver. The upper cord hook has a nut on an "L" shaped bolt. The "L" goes through the hole in the handle. Reassemble the cord hook parts in the same way they were before.

Where does the static wire go in the handle. It fell out and now I am having trouble getting it back in. I fixed the cord myself. Model XL2100rh

If you look closely, you can see a sahllow groove along the inside top of the handle. The curved portion of the static wire fits in that. One end fits in a hole just below the switch, the other end just goes down inside the metal post.

The handle broke off what do I do?

Look up the local Oreck store in your city/town. They carry most of the parts to repair an Oreck. I have a similar model and found the store near me has everything. You can even bring them your unit so they can see exactly what you need. You only have to pay for the part(s) needed and reassemble everything yourself.

Best of luck!

Formed metal wire inside handle

this bent metal wire goes right at the surface in a grove where the two pieces of the handle go together where your fingers grip it. I think it is to discharge static electricity.

Can I get a wiring diagram of the handle on an Oreck XL 2.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Oreck XL Ultra Bagged Upright Vacuum. The best place to get an owner’s manual is from the Oreck Factory of which I will supply for you listed below or you can download the owner’s manual from the Oreck Website. . I would check with your local Oreck dealer or vacuum dealer in your area to see what is going on. This is most unusual for this to happen. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
