24 in. GU980SCG Built-in Dishwasher: My dishwasher (GU980SCGB3) now stops at the rinse ...

My dishwasher (GU980SCGB3) now stops at the rinse cycle. Either it stops completely or it will begin filling and stop and then start again and then stop. If it manages to fill up far enough it will run the rinse cycle and go through the drying cycle. Other times it will get "stuck" and several of the red lights on the control panel will flash. If this happens the dishwasher is stuck and will not continue. I can stop the flashing lights by holding down the cancel button but at that point the cycle is over and I'm unable to restart the dishwasher.

A burning smell and steamy smoke come out when we open the door.

Normally, the last part of any cycle involves using the heater element inside, and at the bottom of, the dishwasher to give dishes a final hot rinse. Possibly some small plastic-type material has become melted and stuck to the element - which will remain hot even after all water is discharged. Hence the smell.

My dishwasher just stopped working in the middle of the wash cycle. It seems to have no power to it. I have checked all the circuit breakers and reset them all and still nothing. Any ideas?

your hard wiring maybe bad, or a wire nut came off call electritian or someone who knows electricity
