My jacuzzi tub jets run for only about 5 minutes before it stops. The other problem is it isn't really off. I have to press the button so it doesn't come back on when the tub is empty. If I'm still in the tub I can get the jets going again after about 5-10 minutes of it being off.

You have a bad motor - when a motor overheats there is a sensor inside the motor that will shut if down so as to not damage the windings and such. once your tub has cooled down for 10 mins or so it will turn back on. the fact that you can push the button multiple times just means that you are turning the air switch on the back of the motor on/off until you get to the point where the motor has cooled down and will turn back on. if you do not push the air button after the tub shuts down and you finish your bath then when the pump cools down it will come back on because the air switch in the motor is latching i.e. it is either on or off. Since you left it in the on position the motor will come back on once the motor has cooled down.

Can Jacuzzi Rapid Heat inline heater be installed upside down?

You do not want to install any heater upside down because if any debris gets inside the heater pressure switch while it is running it will NOT shut off once the pump shuts off.

I have the espree 536 jacuzzi tub. which heater is required for this unit. i ordered the s750000 but it is the wrong one

you will have to look to see where the fitting is to install this heater.
there are two styles of heaters they use (mostly)
In-line pressure heater that installs after the discharge of the pump but before any of the jets.
the in-line Vacuum heater installs before the front of the pump in the suction line.

The bath heater you have is not designed to HEAT water - they only Maintain what you start with.
You need to start the bathtub with the hot water you want. It will only heat about 1-2 degrees an hour.

How do you know if a heater is compatible with your whirlpool tub?

look at the heater you have. it will say either Pressure Inline Heater or Vacuum Heater. The pressure heater installs after the pump and the vacuum heater will install before the pump in the suction line.
