Hi,

Yes, the screen can be replaced. The screen is comprised of 3 screens. The Fresnal Screen (inner screen), Lenticular Screen (middle screen), and the Protective Screen (outer screen). Please see below for links to these items.

Need all 3 to complete screen assembly. The only screen that is still available is the innermost screen, which is probably not the 1 you need. You will only be able to find the middle (lenticular) and outer (protective) screens from a distributor that has them in stock as no one will be able to order them from the manufacturer.

  1. Fresnal Screen
  2. Lenticular Screen (no longer available)
  3. Protective Screen (no longer available)

If the plastic screen is split? yes it very easy to replace. The best place to purchase such items is your manufacture. You will get the best price and they will deliver to you home. CAUTION there is more than one screens on your tv, make sure what layers are affected.

Look on your TV remote. Look for a button that reads "Aspect". While watching TV push the Aspect button until the picture is they way you want it.

How to setup picture in picture function on my tv. panasonic viera 42-px600u

This is controlled by the Split and Swap buttons on the remote; the size of the second picture can be adjusted with the Aspect button. First press split and use the Input button to select the source of the right picture of the split screen (TV channel or video inputs). Then press Swap and use the input button to select the source of the second screen. Swap again if desired or press Aspect to change the size of the main screen window. However, it is not available if you are using the HDMI, PC and SD Card viewing mode. Since the TV doesn't have dual digital tuners, you can't watch two different digital channels on the split screen.

The manual for the Panasonic TH-42PX600U is available from from Panasonic here: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Televisions/Plasma-HDTVs/model.TH-42PX600U . See page 18 of the manual, page 10 of the PDF.

I hope this helps.

Picture is stretched on wide screen a circle looks egg shape

Hello
This is an issue because most television programming is produced in a 4:3 aspect ratio. The minority of programming is high definition, which is produced in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Because televisions are made in either a standard (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) format, there is always a conflict with an image being stretched vertically or horizontally. In the case of widescreen televisions, the stretching is horizontal.
Picture Modes
Luckily, most if not all widescreen televisions have a picture mode that allows the user to toggle between a wide (16:9) and standard (4:3) mode. This means that a person can watch non-HD programming in the 4:3 picture mode, and then go to widescreen when watching HD programming. Some TVs have a picture mode that will automatically adjust to the correct aspect ratio. Other people will watch all programming in the wide picture mode, and learn to adjust to watching a stretched picture.
A stretched picture is when a 4:3 image is pulled on the sides to fill the entire screen. People and images end up looking fatter/wider and shorter.
So, what's the big deal?
Some people don't like a 4:3 picture stretched or distorted because it does reduce the overall visual and picture quality. Some people don't like the bars on the side of the screen when a widescreen is in a standard (4:3) picture mode because it looks different.
Solution
There is no fix-all solution for this issue, unless you own a TV that will automatically adjust to the intended aspect ratio. The stretching of the picture is a side-effect, the price we are paying for the better resolution that is digital and high definition. This is definitely something to consider when buying a television, but keep in mind that there is no right or wrong within this issue. It is just the way it is, and there is no way around it unless you buy a 4:3 aspect ratio television.
Hope these lines will clear the issue, if so do rate the solution

I'm using this as an additional monitor for a HP 10" netbook and the picture is stretched & distorted & doesn't fill screen. The vertical adjustment just moves the whole thing up and remains...

Solution goes this way, to maintain the aspect ratio of the monitor, take note of this. Your HP 10inch notebook have different resolution compare to your additional monitor, But I'm sure you selected the dual view mode or the duplicate mode that is why you have distorted display on your additional monitor, to let the additional monitor decide and maximize its resolution, try using the extended view option, you can change the resolution of your additional monitor without affecting the resolution of your 10 inch laptop.

HDTV

It is obvous that the aspect ratio that you are watching the program in is the native mode if you see the proportions correctly. If the native mode was in 16:9, it would not stretch when you change to this mode.

The broadcaster may be down converting all their video to 4:3 because the majority of sets in his area are still on the old aspect ratio.
