Canon i9950: Full waste ink absorber

Hi,
My name is Dhedik, from Indonesia. I have Canon i9950 and got an error on it. Full waste ink absorber. This is same error with my other printer (Canon Pixma IP1200), but I can solve the problem using Canon printer resetter. Can you give me a link or software to solve my problem?

Regards,
Dhedik

Sorry for my bad English

I have i9950 with similar problem. Message comes up 'Waste ink absorber almost full. Press printer's RESUME button to restart printing.' I noted that Stevemay offered an answer to a similar question that owing to the size of the machine it would be cheaper to purchase a new one - does this apply to i9950?

I cleaned the ink absorbers (all of them) but fail to reset the counter with te given instructions, I try to get into service mode but even there my i9950 gives a green light + 8 orange flashes....is there a way to manual fix this?

Lolz @ stevemay

you need to open it up with the clips and just absorb soem ink from the sponge that absorbs the ink. I do this to my i9950 eevry year or so and it works fine.

    lolz @ stevemay

All you need to do is open up your printer (find the clips etc) with and just absorb some ink from the well (spongey bit that absorbs the ink). I do this to my i9950 every year or so and it works fine.

Sorry about the first version, I was too busy laughing at the answer from Canon :)

  • john stretton May 27, 2014

OK, but where are the clips?

  • steve59302
    steve59302 Jun 05, 2014

The clips are marked with a little triangle. All you need is a flatblade screwdriver and a little force and it will unclip. The buttons at the front may also need to come out. Again they just unclip. Don't be afraid to give it a go, as the alternative is buy another machine.

My name is Steve and I work for a Canon service company. The ink absorbers need to be replaced. However due to the size of your machine it is advisable to purchase a new machine as they are extremely difficult to change.

Suport code 1702 pxma i cant print

Hi Rolando,
This error relates to the ink absorber being almost full. You should be able to press ok and continue (unless you've already done that in which case, the ink absorber is probably full). http://canontechsupports.blogspot.com.es/2014/09/how-to-fix-error-1702170317041715e08-in.html

Ink absober is full

Eight flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full

The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber for the ink used during Print Head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Important

Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible

Ink pad absorber almost full

The Canon inkjet I had required that a service facility perform that task as there is a reset of the firmware that must be done. Try contacting a Canon service provider or tech support to see if they will assist you. I had taken mine completely apart, disconnecting the electronics board and changing the printhead as well before that error cleared but I am not sure if you have to go that far.
