The MP600 cannot scan film or slides. Film/slide scanners need a light source to shine through the film to the scanner sensor. You can use a flat bed scanner with a light source such as the CanoScan 5600F, or a multifunction unit equipped with a backlight source such as the Canon PIXMA MP810, MP970 or MP980.

I apologize that I did not address all of your question. No Canon MP unit is set up to scan 120 film -- they only handle 35mm film and mounted slides. The CanoScan 5600F is also only capable of 35mm. To do 120 film, you would need a CanoScan 8xxxF (8400/ 8600/8800) or the just-announced CanoScan 9000F.

I have a klh home theater speakers with a subwoofer the sub work but when i hook up speakers no sound comes out?

The sub works but the speakers don't? Do you hook up the speakers to the subwoofer output "loop"? This is a circuit issue when it works and stops working. I have the same issue so I wound up joining the wires that go to the sub and the wires that go to the speaker together and place those connections into the sub. The sub works, the satellite speaker works and the impedance load is no issue for my system. Confused? Simply run your neg/pos wire to the sub and where it connects to the sub, run another cable to the speaker (pos to pos., neg to neg).

The only way to repair it would be to deal with component level repair. Although I have the experience, it is too petty and it works fine the way it is.

Scanning 35mm negs on my Epson Stylus PHOTO RX620

Try using a slightly off-white background sheet behind the negative (glass-negative-sheet-scanner lid) first, or a "frame" around the negative that is anything but white... some scanners have an auto-detect feature that may be skewed for one reason or another.

Another trick, from a photographer friend, is to take saran wrap or another transparent but non-reflective material and place as a filter between the negative and glass, thus reducing glare. The sharpness may be lessened, but the glare is also lessened...

Hope this helps!

Unable to scan b/w neg's correctly using Digital ICE

Unfortunately, you cannot use Digital ICE on B&W films due to silver particles contained within the film. The Digital ICE future only works with C-41 (negatives) and E-6 (slides) processed films, but not B&W films.

I have a 3490 scanner but have lost the neg holder to scan negs.

You really cannot scan a neg without a special holder. I recommend paying $90 to Costco and buying their special USB Scanner which scans one neg at atime! They are great!

Thanks,

Mark

Scanner won't scan full frame med format neg 2.25"x2.25"

ll you do is click on the arrow next to preview, and select normal instead of thumbnails. It took me a while to figure that out as well. Also, you will want to scan the film rightside up (opposite of what they say) and flip it in photoshop. When you scan it they way they say, the film touches the scanning bed, creating rings in your photos.
