Hobart C-100 mixer HELP!!!!

I have a Hobart C-100 and I'm having a problem with it.
I took the speed shifter knob thing out and now I can put it back in but it turns freely. I don't know what to do? and I can't find a diagram that shows how it goes back together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is common there is a key on the shifter shaft and when you removed it the key came out and is floating in the grease in the tranny ready to destory the gears. That are no longer available at Hobart. if you want the shifter /switch plate off, remove the pin in shifter and the handle thats all. Hobart has a special puller I have two of them but you can use a H type puller to get to the pull threaded holes Mixer should be upside down on head to repair trans.

Bad News!
Your going to have to pull the planetary and use a special puller to get the gear box plate off to get to the shifter yoke that the shaft goes thru, then reinsert shaft. Plan on changing the grease and seals if it leaks any oil out. Its Not the easiest mixer to service but can be done if your determined to get the job done.
Good Luck!

Hobart A200 1st and 2nd gear have same speed after lever was removed and reinstalled.

I took mine apart completely and reassembled everything and greased everything and mine is doing the same thing. I'm thinking, also, that it is the tightening of the top lock nut.

I have a hobart a-200 mixer. I rebuilt the transmission and got it up and running but the shifter when put into 1st gear still runs at 2nd gear speed. When I put the mixer under a load it slows down like...

Provided you have assembled the machine correctly you have probably tightened the planetary nuts too tight. Loosen both planetary nuts. Should be an acorn nut and a thin nut. Push the planetary all the way up on the shaft and run the thin nut up until it is snug. Back the thin nut off about 1/4 turn. Hold the thin nut and tighten the acorn nut against the thin nut. The planetary must have a small amount of up and down play in it or it will cause the problem you describe.

Mixer speed selector lever

Hi. I live in Canada. I called my Hobart Parts people and they tell me that your shifter is obsolete and the shifter is no longer available in North America. I have the same model as you. For your information, the Specifications # is 3943 and your mixer was manufactured in 1966. Your serial # is 1648855. The age of your unit pre-dates the ML identification numbering system.

The newer shifter you speak of is not compatible with your machine as hobart also made transmission changes when they built the newer model. It will not mate with your machine, so save your money and don't buy the new one. Your shifter lever is made of Aluminium.

You have 3 options.

1. Check around the Wholesale Restaurant Equipment places if you have any nearby and see if they have the part you're looking for. Often times they keep some of the old parts from obsolete machines that they can no longer repair.

2. Find a local welder who can weld on a short piece of aluminum to the remainder of your shifter or if you have the piece that broke off, weld that back on.

3. Search eBay.com for the original part. There are many thousands of these mixers still in use, and you might get lucky and find the lever.

If you found this solution helpful, please rate it as fixya. Good luck! ricardok45

Hobart N-50 mixer clangs on 1st and 2nd speed

CE is the marking that shows its european conformant.  I think the difference is mostly in terms of the no volt interlock switch.  This means the KA style N50 bowl won't work with the CE models - too low.

Grinding

sorry to hear of your misfortune,im a hobart tech and i can tell you right off the bat it would be almost impossible to tell you the solution unless i seen the mixer.be more specific about the noise and where you think its coming from,if its in the transmission i could walk you thru it but it would be a task.first thing to check is that there are no cracks on the mixer.all speeds work?1-2-3.
