FYI - This might damage the unit, but if you really need to get that DVD out then you can try this at your own risk!

Try unpluging the unit, then plug it back in and press the power button and a split second later press the eject button. This all needs to be done quickly otherwise the unit will try to load the disc.

Or

You can try letting the unit load the DVD. When the unit says "Please eject disc. Playback feature may not be avalible on this disc," press the eject button.

DVD w ill not eject from my Toshiba DVD player...Screen says open but the door never does

You will have to change the loading tray drive belt. For which you have to remove the top cover and then unscrew 4 screws that hold the disc mechanism and turn it upside down. You will see a small belt on a pulley which has to be replaced. Do all this only if you have access to replacement belt. In some players if you look at the bottom under the drive mechanism you will find a ****. Insert a thin screwdriver and push a plastic lever in the direction indicated with an arrow. The loading tray will eject the disc. Only some models have this feature. You have not mentioned the model # of your player.

My built-in dvd will not work.

hello,

The most common reason for the system not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:

store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your system including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your system going again!
Hope this will help....

Disc does not appear to load. When inserted in

If you have a disk that you know works, try it. Make sure the disk is not upside down.

Cannot eject upside down DVD

There should be a small hole somewhere in the front of the player on or very close to the door. This is an "emergency" door latch.

If you straighten out a paper clip, you can (WITH THE POWER OFF) insert the end of the paper clip into the hole. Just inside the hole, you will feel the clip stop (about 1/2 inch). press slightly on the paper clip, and you will over ride the door latch.

If you have any doubts about doing this, contact the manufacturer first.

Combi not playing DVD's

If this unit is a few months old can you swap it with the shop you got it in? Errors like the ones you mention sound like the laser is not reading the DVDs. (Which you would expect to find on old players).

Just check you are putting in valid DVD's which play in other players and that you are putting them in the correct way (not upside down - yes it happens).

Portable DVD player not spinning says no disc

Check to see if the disc is spinning. You can do this by one of two ways either
  • a:) Listen for the disc to spin after inserting it or
  • b:) Place disk in drive right way up (so that the label is not upside down). Load the disc and eject the disc again to se if the disc has moved i.e. the writing may now be upside down.
If the disc does not spin then it is likely that there is something wrong with the disc motor. If it does spin then the issue is more likely to be with the laser unit. Try cleaning the lens but if this doesn't help it's likely to be a more serious and ultimately more expensive problem.

Hope this helps
