It can not find the hard drive or the startup folder on the hard drive. Try and fix that by putting in the original boot cd/dvd and repair and choose your hard drive start up folde as boot device. If you can not your hard drive may have died.

Sims 3 won't install on my imac G4. I have Leopard 10.8 so I have the correct system requirements. When I click on install it keeps coming up Not supported on this architecture?

If you read the system requirements of Sims 3, it says that you need at least an Intel Core Duo processor, which the iMac G4 does not have. The iMac G4 has a PowerPC processor.

I bought an imac g 3350 . never had a mac before

Download your program. Make sure it is for YOUR OS. A .dmg should appear on your desktop when it is finished. Double click that. It should open a file with an application icon and a drive icon on the desktop. Open your applications folder from your hard drive, then drag the application icon to that. Eject the drive icon from the desktop by dragging it to the trash.

The container that hold my dvd disk wont come out when I press the open button on my apple computer?

It may be stuck so what you can try are one of these options:

Option# 1
* Shutdown your iMac G4
* Before you turn on your iMac, hold down your mouse button(s).
* Turn your iMac on still holding the mouse button(s) down.
* You will need to keep holding, until your disc ejects as your iMac starts up. That should do it.

Option# 2
If it does not, try using the Terminal utility to attempt to eject the disc.

* Click anywhere on the blank space of your desktop
and then you should see Finder appear near the Apple menu icon located in the upper left corner of your screen.

* Now from the Finder menu, select Go > Utilities.
* Within the Utilities folder. locate the Terminal application and launch it.
* When the screen prompt appears, type:
drutil tray eject

Option# 3
If that does not work, you can also try ejecting the cd using Open Firmware:

* Restart your Mac and hold these keys:
* Hold Command, Option, O and F keys while booting up.

* Now type: eject cd

To exit the open firmware screen type: mac-boot

One of these 3 methods should eject your disc.

If not, you may have a genuinely stuck CD in your drive and may need to take your iMac in to your local Apple retail store Genius bar or local Apple-authorized service center to have it safely and correctly removed.

Honestly, however, I have this same type of iMacG4- you will probably have the cd out by Option # 2 :)

When my imac g4 tries to bootup it shows a folder icon

It sounds like the system is corrupted. What I would do is to get your instal disk and boot up holding down the c key on your keyboard. Once you have booted up go to the file menu and run disk utility to verify and repair the hard drive. Then go to the instal menu and instal a fresh system remembering to preserve the users data so you do not wipe anything. Hopefully this will work.

If you can find an older SVGA monitor, try hooking it up to the port on the back of your mac. If you get video then chances are the LCD display is shot.

Problem with Apple imac Power Supply

The most common problem with imac G4/800's are failing logic-boards. This will cause the mac to not power up at all giving the impression that the PSU is broken.
If however, you are indeed certain that the fault is with the power supply, they are available from many stores online
