This could be an assembly error at the company. There are three valves in a compressor, one is an intake, one is an exhaust, one is an unloader. The easiest way to check is to put your hand on the intake air filter to check for suction. If there is suction then the valve is ok on the intake, if it flutters then it is bad or missing. Locate the on off switch and there should be a valve that unloads the pressure from the compressor, see if that is leaking.

If it is a screw compressor and by you saying you replaced the seperator i would say it it you need to check the scavange line. This is a pipe that goes to the bottom of the seperator filter and sucks any excess oil back into the bottom of the element (pump ) if this is blocked oil will pass down the line insted of going back into compressor. Check pipe on seperator and flex hose going from seperator vessel to bottom of element.
G'day. I guess only if the ISO 68 oil is also a full synthetic- otherwise no. I would not mix them. I would want to change all the oil & ALL the filters (including the seperator) before switching between a mineral & synthetic oil.
So it would be much safer/better to top up with the same oil until the next scheduled service & then switch to the better synthetic oil.

A simple check to see of the compressor is pumping is to remove the intake air filter and feel for suction. If the pump is working properly you will feel suction at the intake and the compressor will unload (speed up) when you restrict the opening. If no suction remove the head and valve plate and check the piston and reed valves for damage. Replace parts as needed. Parts are not expensive for small compressors. Good luck, enjoy.
