What exactly do you mean by new DVD mechanism? Is it the whole drive or the tray assembly?
it's one piece. we removed old one put in new one attached tape looking hookups turned on. it ejects dvd
Ok you replaced the drive part of the recorder. In that case the door switch is bad. That is the reason its spitting out the DVD. Return it and obtain a replacement as the drive has to be taken apart , the door switch de-soldered and the new switch has to be soldered in. Since this will void your warranty I strongly recommend that you get a replacement.
no we replaced the whole dvd divice
It applies to that too. DVD players too have door switches.

If you bouht a new cd mech, you will need to run through several alighnments to the mech and or the circuits that run the mech, such as focus and tracking gain and offsets, one mech will not run on the old settings to do this you will need the service manual a ocilloscope, voltmeter, and the mech guide with the service adjustment for the mech deck, I will see if I can locate theservice manual for this tv set. going to need the complete service model number listed on the rear of the set please.

ok you need to make sure the tray is going all the way in see if the laser lens is moving up and down as if it does not see the disc it will eject the disc but also as mentioned you also need to make sure that the tray is loading all the way in qand activating the switch, look at the mechanism and you should see a sich withy 2 wires on it trace those two wires back to a plug and measure across the two wires for continuity. if you have no continuity than the tray is not closing all the way and my be out of timming??
