You can download drivers from the NEC WEB site. Please clickon this link and select your model computer/notebook and the Windows XP orVista drivers you require :-.

This is a Japanese model. You would need to visit the NEC Japan website to download the drivers. It originally came with Windows 2000, so I assume that it has been reformatted with XP perhaps and the drivers weren't found.
Assuming you don't speak Japanese, I'll help out here!
If this doesn't work, you have to identify your audio chip and get the drivers from the manufacturer of the chip. The best way to do this is download the trial version of Everest from www.lavalys.com and see if the trial version identifies chipsets. Look for audio. e.g. the VA80 uses ADI's AD1886. In that case you would google AD1886 drivers.
