There's 3 fans. 1 by the video board. 1 in the middle of the set infront of the heatsink and 1 behind the lamp. make sure all 3 fans are running and put your ears by them to check. if all of them are running the sound might be coming from your colorwheel. If it sounds like a loud whinning/humming or buzzing noise then more then likely its your colorwheel. Let me know what you find and please rate me. Thanks

SOURCE: After 10 sec. after start up the tv starts to make

Sorry to say it but Fredy2 has no experience on this set or he would know it is the color wheel that gets noisey. Secondly the fans start immediately, but the color wheel lags behind when it gets a signal from the DMD board. This explains why the pause before it growls. The way to change the color wheel is to disconnect the power and remove rear cover. The assembly on the right is the light engine. Unscrew the two screws and disconnect the four plugs connecting it to other parts of the set. Careful not to strip the plastic threads on the large LVDS cable. Remove light engine and locate DMD board(large metal object). On top of it are the two connectors to the color wheel. One is a ribbon cable and the other is a three pin plug. Disconnect them and remove the two screws that hold the cover on where they go to. Then you will see the color wheel. You can replace the wheel without the housing if you want to save money, but the color wheel can't be repaired. It must be replaced. Most shops charge about 250-325 to do this repair. Good luck, Russmann.

Sounds like the power supply capacitors have failed. If you can't replace capacitors on a circuit board on your own, it's time to take in to a repair shop.

After 10 sec. after start up the tv starts to make a large growling sound for about 5 secs. then repeats every 15 sec. sounds like if might be a fan. How many fans in this t.v. . Took the back cover off...

That growling sound is most likely a your color wheel. Often, a color segment breaks free and causes the wheel to become unbalanced. I would suggest searching for a tutorial or "How-To" on replacing it. Basically, you need to disconnect (about 4 connections) and remove the Light Engine (2 screws). Then pull the cover off the color wheel housing (to the left of the lamp, 2 screws). Disconnect and remove the color wheel (2 screws and 2 connectors). You will need to use a vac the glass out from the lost color segment(s). Here's a tip for reassembly: color wheel 4-wire ribbon.. copper on the connector should face you. Also, the lamp door switch must be tripped or the TV will not fire up. I hope this was helpful.

JVC 42 inch LCD HD TV has no picture or sound

utencilio posted this fix. It worked for my JVC LT-42X579.

Okay, I found a fix! Called JVC, spoke to somebody there, here it is:
1)unplug the TV completely, no wall no power strips, completely
2)wait 10 sec
3)plug TV back in and Turn it on, the light will still be doing the same thing
4)wait 30 sec
5)ON THE TV, not the remote, locate the menu, volume (-) and power button.
6)while simultaneously holding down the menu and volume (-) button, pressed the power button ONCE and continue to hold the other 2 for 10 sec.
7)on the remote control, go to menu>settings>system info
*** now this I know as a FACT will work on systems that display: JVC - ver.5.32FO001, but I don't know of any other versions***
8)press the mute button on the remote twice
9)unplugg TV again and wait 10 sec.
10) plug TV in and turn on

It SHOULD be working normally now... Thanx to the guys a JVC support for this one, I know it seems like an obvious first place to look, but sometimes it isn't. I for one checked online forums first

My Sony tv CRT

If it's between 5-10 secs, that's normal. You will turn the tv on and hear a loud (buzz/hum) that is the picture tube firing up, once it's fired up, it has a few more seconds until your picture comes up fully. That is about 5-10 secs from pushing the power button.

If it's taking longer than that, your picture tube may be going out.

I had a 36XBR250 and it took about 10 secs to fire up and show a picture, and it was 5 1/2 years old.
