Kenmore stacked W/D will not agitate during wash cycle

The washer will not agitate during the wash cycle.  I pulled the cover and the motor is spinning during agitate cycle but the belt is not moving.  When you go into spin cycle the motor grabs the belt and spins.  Is there a tension adjustment?

Kenmore 80 series will spin when draining, but not agitate or spin during spin cycle.

Hello. I'm a little confused at the description of the problem. You indicated it, "will not agitate during wash cycle or spin during the spin cycle." But later in your description you indicated, "It will however, drain and spin after wash cycle and during the rinse cycle." I'm not sure if you description was an error but it sounds like you will need to replace the coupling which is part number 285753A.

Washing machine operates sporadially

What made you replace the motor? Sounds also like a transmission problem. You motor reversing in spin but gears for agitate stripped in gearbox. Double check motor/coupling alignment. Pull the motor back off and turn the gearbox drive shaft both directions. One direction makes the basket turn, the other direction makes the agitator turn. If the agitator does not move, the gear case is bad.

Agitator starts at begining of cycle before washer is full

Please be carful as running the agitator without enough water will overheat and kick out the motor, however it should be ok when it resets itself.
Yes, the machine should stop agitating when you lift the lid so this too is part of the problem.
After looking at the print I can only suggest that the cam contacts in the timer ( contacts 12 and 14) that start the motor are burned and stuck together.

Thumping/knocking/rattles during wash agitation cycle

Mine is doing the same thing. I opened it up to see what was happening and it was the drive belt tension arm bumping around. Soon, the belt started slipping during the spin cycle. Now it won't spin and the belt starts to smolder from the friction of the drive motor. If you haven't checked your belt, that's a good place to start.

Kenmore stack washer and dryer

gabehart....sounds like belt is slipping. Replace it. The water pump is on a separate smaller motor so is not affected by the agitator/spin motor.

Agitator very noisy while washing

There is a small roller that tightens the drive belt for the drum inside this unit. If it is loose it makes a squeaking noise. Tightening this may solve your problem. You will have to take off the back panel to do this repair

Does your washer fill , but not agitate or spin? If this is the case, the fine graphite looking dust you are seeing is actually part of the rubber bushing to your motor coupling. The motor coupler is located between the transmission and drive motor under the wash tub. It is quite common for the coupler to go bad, especially if the machine gets used a lot. The part costs about $10 to purchase and is fairly simple to replace. Let me know if your symptoms match what I'm describing here.
