I purchased a kenmore ceramic top electric stove and the door will not completely close. the inside light stays on and im losing heat. I TOOK OFF THE DOOR AND TRIED TO FIX IT BUT IT IS STILL THE SAME.
For a while, they were building Kenmore stoves with hinges that get bent out of shape easily. If your stove is still in warranty, (I'm sorry to say) call the 800 number for a repair. You can get a Saturday appointment if you're persistent enough.
If not in warranty, the hinge kit should still fix it, and the parts are about $45.00 for both, and they come with instructions. It took me about an hour the first time, but I've got it down to 25 mins. You'll need a square drive bit, and beware of the very sharp metal edges.
If you have a warming drawer in the bottom, it's more difficult. In this case, removing the drawer is harder. And after getting the drawer out, the metal liner along the sides of the drawer have to be loosened in the front and bent inward out of the way. Don't worry, they go right back with no trouble.
If you decide to pay someone to do the work, please call a local company.
Good luck!
