1. Throw your KK into the deep end of your pool and see at what angle the hose lies.
2. If the hose is closer to parallel with the pool bottom, then move the hose weights closer to the suction head until the hose is a little MORE than 45 degrees from the bottom of the pool.
3. Keep playing with the weights until the KK starts to move randomly and not tangle with itself. I played around with the weights until it started to move without tangling. It took around 15 -20 mins to get it just right.
With these pool cleaners, that is almost always going to be a problem with your hose balance. To determine if your balance is correct, turn off the pump and observe the cleaner. Hose balance is correct if the cleaner's seal rests flat on the pool floor and drive tubes make a 45 degree angle with the floor. If the hose rises toward the surface at an angle greater than 45 degrees, move the weights closer to the cleaner or move the first two weights closer to each other. If the hose sags at less than a 45 degree angle, move the weights away from the Kreepy Krauly or separate the first two weights away from each other.
Try taking a 2 liter soda bottle. Wash it out really well and stick the ball of yarn inside and feed it through a hole in the lid. It will stop it rolling around and getting all tangled. You can also use an old oatmeal can for this.
