Registration problem Handsets stop working after power failure with continuous display of "SEARCHING". Followed Motorola's Tech Support instructions to reset and de-register/re-register handsets but without success. De-registered all handsets successfully but re-registration does not work, only continuous display of "ENTER BASE ID ###############" after entering BASE ID 360000022717278. Handsets all go blank after entry, as depicted in the instructions, but all display again show "ENTER BASE ID ###############".

SOURCE: New Expansion Handset refuses to register with the base

On the handset, you need to go into the menu, choose register, press and hold the intercom button on the handset and the page button on the base unit at the same time until it tells you that it is registered.

SOURCE: Can't register Motorola handset.

Hi,

There is a very little that we can proceed to here, as these phones are known for the problem that you are facing & most of the customers that I have myself seen ... finally get rid of them buying new ones,

Let’s try resolving it though;

1.) Open battery compartment, remove battery. Also remove belt clip on back of phone. You might have to pry it a little.
2.) Pop off the access panel on upper back of phone. This panel merely hides two screws.
3.) Unscrew all visible screws, Separate front and back of phone. You might have to wiggle the pieces relative to each other. The rubber strips on the sides are held in place with dovetail grooves.
4.) The phone should come apart in three sections.
5.) At this point, get some cotton swabs and alcohol. Dip a swab in the alcohol and rub down the contacts on the keypad and little black pads underneath each button on the rubber membrane.
6.) Let it dry and re-assemble. Your phone should now work properly.

Please let us know if that was helpful enough.

Good Luck & Thanks,

Shiv.

Binatone 1910 flashing not registered to base

Registration:
Instructions if you need to register handsets to the base:
You can register additional handsets to have up to five handsets per base unit, with each handset's number (1 to 5) shown on its display.
1. Press and hold <PAGE> on the base station for more than five seconds to put the base station into registration mode. (Note: there is no feedback to know it is in reg mode.) It will stay in registration mode for about 1 minute. So complete following sequence within this time. (It helps if handset is kept very near to the base during this).
2. Press <MENU> and <UP/DOWN> on the handset to select REGISTRATION.
3. Press <OK> and you are requested to enter the 4-digit system PIN.
4. Enter the 4-digit system PIN.
5. Press <OK> to confirm, and the display will show SEARCHING. If the handset registration is successful, you will hear a confirmation tone and the <antenna icon> will stop flashing. This may take a short while. The handset will automatically be allocated the next available handset number. This handset number is shown in the handset display in standby mode. If thehandset registration is unsuccessful, the <antenna icon> will still flash and the display will return to ' REGISTER', so you will need to repeat registration process.

I am trying to replace a handeset on my E5640 answering system. I have followed the procedures to deregister the existing handsets but it will not accept the base code for the last one. The handset I am...

  • Your telephone can accommodate up to four cordless handsets. You can add new handsets (Model E560-2, sold separately) at any time, but each must be registered with the base before use.
  • The handset provided with your telephone is automatically registered as Handset 1.
  • Additional handsets will be assigned numbers in the order they are registered (2, 3 or 4). You can register a maximum of four handsets.
To de-register all handsets
• Unplug the power supply from the base unit.
• Remove all handsets from the charge cradles and base.
• Plug in the power supply while pressing and holding the HANDSET LOCATOR button.
• Continue pressing HANDSET LOCATOR until the IN USE and CHARGING indicators are lit (this could take up to 10 seconds).
• Release the HANDSET LOCATOR button.
• All handsets will display: ENTER BASE ID: XXXXXXXXXX
Once the base indicators turn off (up to 30 seconds), the handsets have been de-registered from the base, and can now be re-registered.

To re-register a handset:
• Make sure your handset batteries are properly installed and charged.
• Your handset will display "ENTER BASE ID".
• Enter the 15-digit Base ID number from the bottom of the base unit.
• Press SELECT to accept the new code and complete re-registration.

To re-register a handset to a new base unit:
• Make sure your handset batteries are properly installed and charged.
• Unplug the old base unit. Your handset will display "SEARCHING...".
• Install the new base unit by plugging it into an electrical outlet and phone jack.
• Press and hold the SELECT key until the handset displays "ENTER BASE ID".
• Enter the new 15-digit Base ID number from the bottom of the new base unit.
• Press SELECT to accept the new code and complete re-registration. The handset is now registered to the new base.

I have a Motorola L404 cordless phone. i bought an additional handset. I cannot get it to register with the base unit. It just keeps saying "registration failed"

On the Motorola L404 series, to deregister all handsets you unplug both the phone and power to the base station. Press and hold the 'find' button while plugging the power back in. The display will show "CL". Continue to hold the find button till the display shows '00' and all the handsets will show 'unregisterd'. You then proceed by registering all your handsets again in the order you want them listed.

VTech 5.8 mhz won't work

I found a solution that fixed this problem (at least for me). On the vtech site they said to unplug the base unit for at least 5 minutes. Previously, I had only unplugged the base unit for a few seconds. This time, I left it unplugged for about 10 minutes or so and when I plugged it back in, everything was working fine. Apparently there is some sort of capacitor that must discharge long enough to completely remove power from the circuitry.

Good luck and I hope this works for you!

Validation

I would assume this could have been a product that was returned to the company that you purchased it from. Follow these instructions. 1. 1. Disconnect power from the base by pulling the plug out of the back of the unit. 2. Press and hold the Page button and while holding the Page button reconnect the power. 3. Continue to hold the Page button until the charge/in use light flashes rapidly. 4. Release the Page button. 5. Press and release the page button on the base once. All handsets are de-registered and HANDSET NEEDS REGISTRATION shows in the display. Then From the Handset Setup Menu: 1. Press the caller ID-volume ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to the REGISTRATION sub-menu. 2. Press the mute/program button to enter the menu. REGISTRATION 1YES 42NO - - -shows in the display. The default setting is 2NO. 3. Use the touch-tone pad to select 1 for YES or 2 for NO. Or use the caller ID-volume ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to 1YES or 2NO. 4. If you select YES, press the mute/program button. HOLD BASE PAGE FOR 5 SECONDS, THEN PRESS HANDSET PROGRAM shows in the display. (Your handset should be held near the base during registration process.) 5. Press and hold the page button on the base unit until the charge/in use indicator flashes. Press the handset mute/program button. REGISTERING shows in the display. HANDSET X REGISTERED shows in the handset display, where X is the handset number. You may now rename your handset. (Refer to Step 3 & 4 of Handset Name Section) NOTE: IF you are re-registering the handset through the handset menu; to rename your handset you must go to the Handset Name Section and start from the beginning step. I understand that you have tried the registation process. Sometimes with electronics, you have to start from ground 0, before it will work correct again. If there are further questions or comments, please post here. Please rate this solutn through fix-it. Thank you
