  • StressyTeen May 03, 2009

I have the same problem. I have tried a few of the solutions. I tried the F8 Safe Mode one, that didn’t help. It simply made my computer slow, and it degraded from XP to Classic. When it asked if I wanted to continue with Safe Mode or not, I chose No because I didn’t trust it.

I don’t want to REMOVE K9 from my computer. I’m under strict orders with this stupid dog thing!

My mother has put it on to shelter me from certain sites. We share the laptop, and so she would definitely realise if I had removed it. I simply just want a way to ‘Power Through’ the restricted websites, or the times. No one has mentioned the time. My mum has set it to allow me on for 60-90 minutes a day! Then it just logs me off! It’s highly annoying! And I can’t change it, but if I could, if anyone found a way of changing the time, even if its password protected, that’d be great J

And a **TIP** for anyone else who has time restrictions:

If you use msn live, and hate having to log off that before it signs you out, I can help.

Simply just sign in before the time runs out, I always do it when the time first starts, then just stay on and don’t sign out. Even though it will log you off of Internet Explorer, it keeps you in MSN live. It’s just, the adverts at the bottom come up with K9, and you can’t add contacts because it won’t connect. But you can still chat to people J

    ALSO;

    A tip for videos.

There are certain site (sponsored usually) that you can watch videos on, just start the video before the time ends, and make sure it loads (Buffers) before you play it, and it’ll play for you. I usually watch really long videos so it’s still something to do once the time runs out.

I hope I helped a few people, and I hope people could help me.

    Thanks in advance,

    Yours sincerely, Stressy Teen XD

Disable the Bluecoat service from the Windows Service Control Manager. Remove the file bckd.sys under Windows system32 drivers directory. Reboot the box.

Just deleting the single file did not work for me. I got it to uninstall with this method by removing all the files in the afore mentioned directory and following through with the rest of the procedure.

When you turn on your computer press F8 to go into safe mode. From there you can search the web for face book and youtube and the others you want. You can also go into my computer and uninstall K9 and If you don't know the password then just by pass it with win rar, you can download win rar from google. Just type in "download winrar". once you are done downloading winrar you need a K9 code and you can find that through bit torrent from there figure it out your self

Good luck

  • joycecheung0 Nov 05, 2010

it wouldnt help if they dont know what bit torrent is and you cant just say from there figure it out yourself!

To disable K9 Web Protection, follow these steps:

1. Go to the website and download the K9 Web Protection Installer for your system (64bit, or 32bit)

2. Let it download, and instead of clicking "Run" Click "Save" and save it to a location of your choosing.

3. Right click your "My Computer" icon, then click "Properties". When that window opens up click on the "Hardware" tab, then click "Device Manager" when the next window opens.

4. Click the "View" tab at the top of the Device Manager, then click "Show Hidden Devices".

5. Then look for "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" and open up that tree. Then find the device called, "bckd". Right click it, and then click "Disable"

6. A message will pop up telling you to reboot your PC, do so.

7. After it boots up, there should be a message down in the right corner saying "K9 Web Protection has become Corrupted" or something similar. This is good :).

8. Before you can surf the internet, go to wherever you saved the K9 Installer from steps 1 and 2, and run the installer.

9. It should just pop up with a message asking you to update K9 web protection, click "Yes" and for the next message that pops up, click "Ok"

10. Wait a little bit, and then you can got to any Website.

11. To re-enable K9 Web Protection, just go back to the device manager and re-enable "bckd".

I hope this helps everyone, I figured this out all on my own, and I'll tell you what, I'm happy!

  • xiLolliPop Feb 01, 2011

in the last step when i click on the k9 installer they tell me u have to give us permission first so please click continue then when i click continue nothing happens! please reply me i really need to delete it :'(

  • ravinella Jun 23, 2011

Gee this worked. Can I ask once you are able to surf normally is K9 still working in the background and recording internet activity? Or is it a simple case of simply deleting internet history upon exit? Thi sbtw is a fantastic solution provided of course one's history remains private.

Go to start button

  • then run
  • type in regedit
  • go to edit
  • then find, in the box type in the name of the program then hit enter key
  • it will search every instance of that name in the registry
  • make sure the entry relates to that program then hit delete key
  • then ok to confirm delete
  • then F3 to continue search
  • continue deleting,ok,F3 ,untill you reach the end of the registry
it is very important that you make sure you are deleting the correct entries as you can do a lot of damage if you delete something that windows needs ,to be able to boot

good luck

Ok so i was trying to get this to work for a freind!!! she is 18 and her parents are sitll keeping her laptop fixed up for her if you get what i mean:P.. so i was reading on this forum and a guy had a program like revo uninstaller or something like that.. he gave a link and everything so i downloaded the program installed it on her laptop... here are the steps that i took to get k9 to be under my control:D

1: i go into safe mode( you restart your computer and press F8 when it starts loading)
2: i install reo uninstaller...
3: start revo delete program... it will ask you for posswerd and everything but just press cancel and it will delete the program adn all registrys and everything...
4: restart the computer..
5: when you try to get online your browser opens up and says k9 is not responding, blablablabla and telling you you need to fix it:P
6: you download k9 lisence of their officail site and it will arive in your email after a couple of seconds, somewhere around there when you get the licens you put a email adress and password in a form thingy...:P
7:get the license key install your k9 again:P it will say that your k9 needs to update press ok..
uptade it which will take a couple of seconds...something about restartiong your computer...
8: after your comp restarts you can brows the internet and do whatever you want:P but you get anoyed by this little thingy that keeps poping up and saying k9 is not configured... so you kilick on the popup and go to their site... put in you password that you had picked at the form... and vuala:D

Rofl, I solved this over a year ago... can't believe it's still giving people trouble.Alright, check it out -> you're able to install this over itself.Steps:1. Go to: http://www1.k9webprotection.com/-in fact even if you ctrl+alt+del and cancel the process, you can still get here from the error page that pops up when you want to connect to the internet.2. Click Download K9 Today For Free3. Fill out a name and e-mail address (make your own b/f hand if you don't have a personal one)4. Click Request License -> you will be sent a license number and download link to the specified e-mail address.5. Log-in to e-mail, download and install k9 over the previous version entering your license number, and choosing your own password for it (You don't need to know the password for the old copy, as far as it's concerned you are just reinstalling it).6. You can now go to add/remove programs, delete the program, when prompted for a password, enter the one you just came up with and presto...----7. Now for the kids who want to get smart w/ their parents, leave the k9 installed. It's a new version and only you know the password. That means no1 can check on where you've been so you don't care if the process it running - That's usually as far as a parent will check anywho, believing that it won't allow you to go to any wrong sites so long as it's up. ...And when/if they do try to check where you have been, you can watch while they get frustrated retyping their password wondering if they forgot it or typed it in wrong originally. ...And they can't accuse you of uninstalling something they thought was rock-solidly secure when it's right there, process still running and everything. On a more serious note, you should be aware that if you connect to the internet through a modem (like most households), whoever the person who set your connection up, (took it out of the box and connected/installed it on a computer, they have the ability to look up the traffic logs that went through that connection. So granted, by removing k9 it allows you to maneuver wherever you want, but so long as you live under their house, there still is the possibility that sum1 will be watching. If your parents are not tech savvy there is a way to change this by logging in with a default password. Find your modem brand/provider. Google how to access it (should just be http//<something>/ in search bar) and what the default username/password it (usually admin::password), and then go into the settings, change the password so only u can see the logs w/e you want - don't come crying if u f-something up that requires outside help to fix. However, if your parents weren't smart enough to change the password they prob don't know about the logs so it won't matter. Good Luck out there ;PDeviant

Guys....I think you all are missing 1 important thing here....If your windows account is a regular one..meaning you're not an administrator..you won't be able to install/unistall anything without the administrator password. You won't be able to download anything, if the administrator has set up your regular user account well. I am a parent and I use K9, OpenDns and vista parental control and I have blocked access to CMD on regular users, so basically the only way for my son to get around this is by installing 3 party OS or doing a clean install....but if he does..I will know about and he will NEVER use a computer in my house as long as he lives there.

  • Anonymous May 22, 2009

Like I said before...if you are a "standard user"...you will not be abel to download or install anything without the administrator password. Why can't people realize this? I am a computer tech, so I know what I'm saying.

  • nekowa13 Nov 25, 2010

    so stupid...
thanx god as a mother i'm more open-minded and i trust my kids
i let them know what the world is like, before growing up so once they grow up they can take the right decision by themselves (i grew up this way and i have trust in this method)

for your kids, i wouldn't be surprised if suddenly they'd joined a gang and started taking drugs, they don't know anything about it so it'd be so easy to talk them into it with some lies like: "it's so good, don't trust your parents, they're lying to you, if they didn't lie to you then why do they limit you? they do it to hide the truth from you!" - that's how it all works, and that's why kids from "good" families always end up in this ****!!!

When I logon on my son's standard account and try to download anything from the internet...it asks for my password. When I try to install any program. it asks for my password. His account does not have access to command prompt. If i try to install a key logger or anything like that...it will block it. TRUST ME I have tried to hack it without success...So, like I said on my previous remark…the only way for him to get around it is to install a 3rd party OS or do a clean install...or try to figure out my password (administrator password).

The reason I'm saying this is because the suggestions mentioned by others here will work if you have account with privileges. other wise you're out of luck!

PS
By logging into SAFE MODE won't help either.

All he needs is a simple boot-up disk and he can easily crack the password to your account, and he could easily download this at a friends house or even a public computer.

Format the pc. that will get rid of the uk and others from spying on you with this crapware. all websites you visit are sent to them and they keep a permant record of your surfing. just like google saves every search everyone has ever done and gives it to goverment. google even admited this. same thing is going on with browsers suggesting websites as you type to phising protection to allowing software to these things or other things is just bs. don't allow your security suite or webbrowser to do these things.

Just get Bart's PE or someother already made cd that contains xp and run the entire pc from the cd rom without anyone knowing heck Bart's PE can remove admin passwords on windows. It even can allow you to connect and surf internet. but once your on there you could delete the files without windows or software trying to stop you........

  1. Boot into Safe mode
  2. Delete %WINDOWS%\system32\drivers\bckd.sys
  3. Open REGEDIT and search for bckd and elite all keys
  4. Reboot into normal windows and request evaluation of K9, get licence number and install with new password
  5. Reboot and select uninstall, use your new password, then reboot and your are done
It was necessary to delete the bckd.sys and the reg keys, so that you can do a new install with new pw, otherwise it just reinstalls with existing i\unknown pw.
This worked for me today. Good luck...

Try downloading trinity restore from another computer and boot your protected pc with this to unlock the administrators account - use instructions online for trinity setting password as "password". Then follow the guidance above to uninstall k9, the safe mode deletion one is probably the best one. Then allow admin rights on your user account and get rid of uac. Then tell the owner that windows had an issue saying their password is now reset to "password". Job done.

I requested uninstall solution over 2 weeks ago and still got no answer from K9. Your program just came on to my IBM desktop computer while I was surfing the net. I did not install this so how can I use a password when I never installed this. Please give me one to use to uninstall this annoying blocker to my internet emails and other programs. I even paid Fixya to get me a password but I still can't get any where with them either. Please help me. My email is: [email protected].

SOURCE: how to uninstall blue coat k9 without administrator password?

Hi ,

I have two solutions for your problem

Solution 1 :

  • First disable the Bluecoat service from the Windows Service Control Manager.
  • Remove the file bckd.sys under Windows system32 drivers directory.
  • Reboot your system
If the above solution is not successful ,please try the next

Solution 2 :
  • When you turn on your computer press F8 to go into safe mode.
  • From there you can search the web for face book and youtube and the others you want.
  • You can also go into my computer and uninstall K9 and If you don't know the password then just by pass it with win rar, you can download win rar from google.
  • Just type in "download winrar". once you are done downloading winrar you need a K9 code and you can find that through bit torrent .

Wishing success.

Hi im anthony and i had bought a laptop from a guy and it has k9 web protection on it and im tryn to get it took off can u pleasde help me

there are two methods you can try.
Method 1
If you have the administrator account password for the local computer and the best way to uninstall K9 web filter from the local computer is to re-install it! Re-install k9 web protection will simply get you a new license code and a new password you can enter without the need of old password.
1.Open K9 web protection website 2.Click "get K9 NOW" tab on the top-left 3.Fill out the information and your email. 4.Download the K9 Web protection software from the link included in the email and keep a copy of the license. 5.Grab a version of the K9 web protection installed on your computer, a Google search should do the job. 6.Open "Task Manager" by press (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and end the process K9filter found in the "Process" tab. 7.Now, you can safely delete the K9 web protection program files. Open computer explorer and go to the folder where K9 is originally installed. It can be found mostly at C:\Program Files/Blue Coat k9 Web Protection. 8.Remove the contents of the folder but not the folder. 9.Run the K9 web protection setup/installer file which has the same version as the one you just delete 10.Provide the license and create your new password 11.Point the installation folder to the same folder you just empty the contents earlier on 12.Now you can have a re-installed K9 web protection with a password you know. How do you uninstall K9 web protection now? Use the new password you just created If something goes wrong, install the K9 web protection program downloaded from Step 4.
Method 2
Reboot Windows into safe mode: restart your computer and hold "F8? key until you see the menu to choose "Safe Mode" Login to windows and go to "Program Files" directory and delete the K9 folder manually (delete only the contents but leave the folder) Click "Start"->"Run" and type "msconfig" Check the tab "Services" and tab "Startup" Un-check anything that is related to k9 If somehow this method is messed up, try to download K9 again to at least restore your previous installation. If this still does not work, try to install Revo Uninstaller.

I want to uninstall k9 web protection without a password

Heya

K9 web protection cannot be uninstalled without password by the windows utility as it has limited access. Now what you can do is use REVO UNINSTALLER software. The following is the link for downloading the setup file-:

http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-professional-version.php

After downloading the setup file install it.Now as soon as you open the revo uninstaller it will show you all the programs installed. Now select K9 web security and then it will give you four options.Select advanced uninstaller and click on next (this might open windws uinstaller again and might ask you for a password as well but just click on cancel).Just after this it will show a screen to delete all the files of k9 from your hard drive and also from your registry.Select all the files and click on delete all. Some of the files might not delete but as soon as you restart the computer K9 will be out of your computer.
Basically it will not uinstall k9 but will delete all the files from your computer and the registry as well.So if there are no files of k9 in the registry that means its out of your computer.

This is a guaranteed solution but i hope your not a minor who just wants to watch ..you what i mean..
well anyways goodluck

Long live the geeks!!!

Copy and paste the following batch script code, then save:@echo off set keys=^ "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Blue Coat Systems"^ "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\k9filter.exe"^ "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection"^ "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bckd"^ "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bckwfs" REM remove registry keys for %%G in (%keys%) do reg delete "%%~G" /f >nul set folders=^ "%programfiles%\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection"^ "%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection" REM remove folders for %%G in (%folders%) do rd /s /q "%%~G" set files=^ "%windir%\System32\drivers\bckd.sys" REM remove files for %%G in (%files%) do del "%%~G" pause exit /b
  2. Make sure file extensions are shown and rename it to RemoveK9.cmd (or whatever you like, as long as it has the .cmd extension).
  3. Restart Windows in Safe Mode.
  4. Right-click the .cmd file and select Run as administrator from the context menu. Wait for the batch script to finish.
  5. Start regedit.exe and navigate to the following registry key:
<code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_BCKD Right-click the LEGACY_BCKD key and select Permissions from the context menu. Click Advanced and select the Owner tab. Then select Administrators from the owner list, tick the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects option, and then click OK. Then select Everyone and tick the Allow checkbox for the Full Control permission. Click OK, right-click the key and finally choose Delete.

  6. Restart Windows.
