Ipod 4th gen not charging on Jensen VM9311TS

The issue is that the 4th Generation iPod takes far more energy to run than your 4gb iPod. Updating the firmware has nothing to do with it. It's the amount of energy/voltage that this new 8Gig unit takes to run.
Think of it as a 4 cylinder verses an 8 cylinder engine. The 8 takes far more gas to run.

Jvc kdpdr30..

your 8 gig will work. I am assuming that you are talking about the (charging not supported) message that you get with your ipod. If this is so then you can buy an adaptor that will fix this problem. usually costs around $50

Hi,

So what you can do is connect the ipod to computer (Connect it to USB Port at the rear of you desktop computer and charge it). then try these steps:

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

What generation nano do I have?

I don't know it by model number but the generation are easy to define.
A first generation nano is either black or white.  It is made out of the same material as a standard Ipod at the time.  Comes in 1 gig and 2 gig only
A second generation nano is multi colored and made from a metal case.  Similar in design to a mini.  The edges are round as well. comes in 2 gig and 4 gig.
A third generation nano is a different size than 1 and 2.  it has a bigger screen on it.  Can play videos as well.  Comes in 2 gig, 4 gig, and 8 gig as well.

8 GB Ipod Nano went dead and now won't charge

does it work on the charger? if not, then contact apple or your dealer for more assistance or repairs.

If it works on the charger, plays music and so on, your battery is probably dead and you need a new one.
