Phillips plasma i turn it on the green led lights up then a red led starts flashing no picture
Could be Bad caps on PSB causing the set to go into protection. If you are out of Warranty and want to try and DIY. You can email me. gysgt2u1@yahoo I'll give you some instruction and some pics of what to look for. If your'e set was scambling the top/bottom half it may be YSUS and the buffers Upper and lower that work in unison with it, or could be SSB. Can try the easy one first. It works about 90% of the time and cost a few bucks and some soldering. SSB replacing consist of just plug new one in. The board itself doesn't cost all that much. If you have to replace the YSUS and YB upper and lower its about 200.00
Try to help you while I search for solutioin to my probelm. I am becoming very familair with the insides of these sets and the bad boards that come with them. LOL

The most aggravating part of this dilema of the flashing red light, is that we all seem to have the same problem less than 2 years after its production. It smells like defect in the workmanship. I cannot believe I how much the repairs are.
I have the 42pf9956/37. Same thing.
I took off the back cover and tried the power and found the relay that was clicking. I have two blue relays in the middle of the board.
I took a haid dryer and placed it over the relays.
After a minute I tried the power and after 4 times it stayed on.
Not sure why, but it is free.
I won't turn it back off soon though.
I had a technician come out and look at the problem and it was the SSB panel that went out. It costs about $600 to get it fixed. So my advice to everyone is to not get a plasma TV. Go for an LCD. They are a lot better and have less problems. Plasmas ****!!
I do not have a solution but ours is doing the same thing. We do not know what to do....also would like some input......

Are the video connection correct and is there VIDEO coming down the wire? With no video in (or TV signal if you using an internal tuner) you won't see anything. This COULD explain it being on but dark.

The TV just turned off one night and flashed a red light. We unplugged it and plugged it back on. The green light would come on like usual like the TV was going to work, but then it would flash red again and not turn on. We unplugged it all night and tried it again in the morning. The same thing is happening.
One day we went to watch TV and our Phillips plasma started blinking a red light (4 times ). We have tried the re-start tips, and heater / blow dryer options, but no luck yet. The price of repairs quoted here seem more than the TV is worth.
The TV worked fine before - but we did notice recently at one point the top half was scrambled while the bottom half was fine - did anyone else notice any precursor problems? We thought is was just the cable, but now suspect otherwise.
Any other tips out there?
LET ME TELL YOU EVERYTHING I HAVE LEARNED....MY PHILIPS (9954) COST FIVE GRAND. IT SHUTS OFF AND THE PERVERBIAL BLINKING RED LIGHT COMES ON. ONLY AFTER I SHUT IF OFF(CABLE ALSO) WILL IT COME BACK ON....HERE IS WHAT HAS BEEN DONE...A NEW POWER SUPPLY...THAT DID NOT WORK.. I CONTACTED PHILIPS (5 TMES) WHO WANT TO GIVE ME 80 BUCKS TOWARDS A NEW ONE (I WILL NOT BUY ANY PHILIPS PRODUCT AGAIN) I HAVE HAD THE CABLE COMPANY VISIT ME THREE TIME BECAUSE OF THIS ODDITY...IF I'M WATCHING A HIGH DEF. SHOW AND THEN IT GOES TO COMMERCIAL THAT ISN'T HIGH DEF. IT'S AS THE THE CABLE BOX DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO SEND THE T.V. BACK TO THE HIGH DEF. PROGRAM...I WAS TOLD ALSO THAT THE T.V WAS "BURNING" TO HOT AT 1080 AND USE 780 (THAT DID NOT WORK) I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE CABLE BOX I HAVE(WITH HIGH DEF.) MAY NOT BE COMPATABLE WITH MY OLDER PLASMA.
