When you hit the power button, red light on TV will flash. Sound will come on. Sometimes you will here a click, light will go solid and picture will come on. Sometimes it will be OK, other times it will be wavy and partially visual and then the screen will go blank. Sometimes the light will flash and never go solid and you will only get sound with no picture. What is it that needs to be repaired? Thanks
You may have to resolder your vertical IC. This seems to be a common occurence for many Sony TVs. This is my first diagnosis when I get one of these in. But, yes there could be a bad ground almost anywhere. You will need to pull the board out and resolder any IC mounted on heatsinks and any large power resistor and resolder the pins connecting the flyback transformer to the board.
