SOURCE: whirlpool duet electric dryer taking too long to dry
A1 Pull the dryer out away from the wall. Unhook the vent from the dryer completely. Do not put anything over the dryer exhaust on the back of the dryer. Do a normal load with the vent unhooked. If it dries better or ok like this then the problem is in the dryer venting. Like a blocked vent pipe or a smashed or restricted vent hose.
A2 - If the vent doesn't make a difference, then check the blower wheel for excessive lint build up, check that there isn't anything stuck to the air intake baffle inside the drum, (i.e. the screen on the back wall of the dryer when looking into the drum). Check the lint filter chute for blockage. Check that the heating element isn't shorted to ground. Check the exhaust temperature of the dryer. A meat or pocket thermometer can be used for this. It should cycle between 120 degrees and 170 degrees. Check that the drum seals to make sure the are not worn out.
SOURCE: My Electric Dryer's Heating Element Glows orange while in use
Hi. this is quite normal when you dry heavy items. the dryer has sensors inside the compartment that will sense cotton and wool garment. if needed, the thermal regulator will adjust the element to the appropriate range. If there is a problem, the electronic thermal fuse will blow. this is the safety feature that will trigger itself if a fire or over heating is sensed. Also, if your selector knob is set to a cotton or high heat mode, the element will normally glow intensively during this cycle.
Please rate and god bless.

check outside dryer vent that is through the wall they tend to get clogged up and if they do the warm air can not get out so the sensor reads the heat and shuts down the heat inside the dryer just clear the clog at the bottom of the dryer vent behind your dryer and the outside vent at the opening of the outer vent

I have an amana electric dryer. Changed out thermal fuse and cleaned out vent. Thermal fuse is blown again, but I noticed that it is not cycling. The dryer is very hot on the outside on top.
