Emachine E528 Laptop is saying a disk read error occured push ctrl+alt+delete an it will restart

The error that you are getting indicates that the system is not able to detect the Hard Drive. We would need to confirm if the Hard Drive is detected in the system BIOS or not. For that we would need to turn off the computer. Turn on the computer and start hitting F2 key to reach BIOS. On the First page of BIOS it should show you the Hard Disk Drive with name and Number. If it shows all drives and none or not detected then it means the hard drive is not getting detected by the system. If you can open the Laptop and reach the Hard Disk Drive you can try to re-seat it to see if it gets detected. If it still remains undetected, Its time to replace the Hard Disk Drive.

Please try the above steps and get back for any further assistance or clarification

Just installed brand new hard drive, 500 GBs. Upsized from 40 GB. Could there be a problem in set-up using XP Home. Keeps saying read disc error occured. Says Clear/ Alt/ Delete to restart, not working.

There might be a problem with the hard disk. You should hook the drive up to another computer and run a hard disk diagnostic test on the drive, such as Data Lifeguard Diagnostics by Western Digital to make sure that the drive is okay, even if it is brand new.

My Dell Inspiron 6000 has Samsung Model MP0603H hard drive. The computer was working fine till this morning when it would not boot. I ran diagnostic using the Dell CD and the results stated: Error Code...

Those codes all apply to the hard drive itself..

Replacing the hard drive is all you should have to do.

Below is a link to a brand new hard drive that will work in your Inspiron 6000

Dell Dimension 9100 Blue Screen 0X00000024,00190293,86FA5B30,C000102,00000000. I tried to reinstall XP from CD and it says unable to locate Hard drive. Replaced Hard drive and tried again, same message....

Hope this help you...This is in relation to what your error code means, you'll need to check against the list.
  • Error 0x00000024 - This problem may occur if there is a conflict between Windows XP SP1 and the display adapter drivers that are currently installed.
  • Error 0x00000004 - occurs because your computer processor detected and reported an unrecoverable hardware error to Windows
  • Error 0x0000007b - occurs if your computer is infected with a boot-sector virus.
  • Error 0x80004005 - occurs because the account that is being used to access the page does not have access to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC registry key.
  • Error 0xc0000005 - occurs because of memory corruption.
  • Error 0xc0000034 - caused by a missing system file (usually Ntdll.dll in the %systemRoot%\system32 directory.
  • Error 0xc0000006 - occur if there is not enough free hard disk space on the NTFS-compressed hard disk partition when the SIS filter tries to read compressed back pointer data streams from the SIS volume.
Another common reason can be malware and spyware that penetrate to your computer registry and started destroying it... that's why it's so important you fix your registry right now!

Smart drive failed during diagnostic test

Bad sectors are starting to show up on the hard drive. Thats what the smartdrive program is for, its checks the hard drive to see if there are any bad spots or potential bad spots on the platter inside of the hard drive.

It will definitely have to be replaced. Replace it with a new one and if you can't then at least replace it with a known good used one.

A Disk read error occurred upon booting

This could be a sign of the hard drive having a problem.
I would recommend that you do a scan of the hard drive to check for errors.
You didn't mention which operating system you have, but you need to click on My Computer and then right-click on your hard drive. Go to Properties and then Tools.
Once there, select the option that tells you to check the disk for errors. Check the entire drive. Note that this will not run right away. You must restart your computer, as the utility needs exclusive access to the hard drive.
If this type of error reoccurs, it's time to back up your data, 'cause you probably have a hard drive that is dying.

Dell laptop latitude x300 won't boot up

Your laptop hard drive is probably damaged from the fall. The reason why diagnostic test after memory fails is that it’s trying to load from the “Diagnostic Partition” which is located on your hard disk drive. You could try to remove and reseat the hard disk drive and see if that works, otherwise you’ll have to take the drive to a local computer repair shop to see if they can retrieve any data.
