Maytag MAH3000 new bearing & seal kit still out of balance on high spin cycle
This unit gets out of balance on high spin cycle only it is fine on lower RPM's and wash cycles. I was told to replace bearing and seals so I did but was worried when I found the old bearings in good condition. I replaced anyways but found same problem. I have cheated switched and watched spin cycle from all angels and cannot see anything obvious....but when it reaches the high RPM it begins to wobble out of balance. Any ideas?
We have the same problem with our washer. We changed the struts and it didn't make any difference then we had a repairman troubleshoot it and he said that the struts were bad. We told him that we changed them already them he added that we have calcium deposits and a cracked weight under the tub. He's wrong about the calcium deposits also but the weigh does have a hairline crack in it. How that can make it so off balance is beyond me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We have the same problem with our washer. you may need heat from a paint remover gun in order to loosen the grip on the shaft and you will need to take a flat screwdriver to get behind the seal to remove it press th new seal in evenly otherwise it wont seal properly maybe a friend from a garage could help eric
Usually four items are changed. The two bearings , the seal, and the shaft. When you did your first repair the shaft should have been replaced. The reason the noise continues is that the shaft wobble even as minor as it may be ends up beating the new bearings to where they start making noise again. The new kits are better designed and can be found for under 100.00 dollars. Shop around for the best price. Good Luck Friend.
Sounds like your bearings and seal need replaced... See Neptune Bearing for information on the Maytag Neptune bearing and 12002022 seal kit. You can also rent a special tool kit that includes the bearings, 12002022 seal kit, bearing spacer, step by step DVD, etc.
The problem is that the seals are leaking and allowing water to attack the tub bearings.
You need new tub seals and bearings.....not as difficult as it may seem.
see u tube video on replacing maytag seals and bearings
Cheers Stan
Does the unit leak water or make a noise while spinning ? Its may be the triple seal bearing kit in the inner tub going out .With the model and serial numbers the warranty can be checked to see if the parts are under warranty. If the seal kit is going bad it takes about 3 or 4 hours to replace , some times it will damage the transmission as well. The unit has 9 springs under the tub to help keep it balanced . by removing the front panel you can run the washer to better see the problem.
Shut down and unplug machine a.s.a.p.! It could be your door latch wax motor failing which will burn the R11 (resistor) and Q6 (triac) on the machine control board. You did not mention which Neptune you had... If it is a MAH3000, MAH4000, MAH5500A or a 2000 stacker and you have not replaced the door latch wax motor (12002535) then your time is up. See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for details for the repair kit or you can purchase a new control board and 12002535 wax motor and be up running quickly before the clothes pile get too high.
It could be the seal and/or bearings if the machine is starting to get loud in the high speed spin cycle. If so, See www.neptunebearing.com for the seal and bearing kit plus they offer a special Neptune bearing tool for rent called the tony tool. A Maytag technician will want to charge you $900 to replace the whole outer tub? Why replace it when just the bearings and seal kit need changed?
This is normal to hear water sloshing under the drum when machine is done washing and you spin the drum. This is part of their water balance method to help spinning procedure. I called a Maytag repair shop and they helped with my question.
Hey ****, what you are hearing is the spin bearing. Maytag redesigned the bearing kit on this washer, there must of been a lot of leaks causing the bearing to go bad. They put out a service flash...TDL-0060-B. New seal and bearing kit, part number12002470. You may want to contact Maytag on this for it could be covered. I know you have 5 years warranty on the transmission and If they change that, they have to use a new seal and bearing. Catriver...post back.
