ITouch pass code forgotten?

If you cannot remember the pass-code or password to your new iTouch MP3 player first thing you can do to unlock the IPod is by doing the following: Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one IPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked. If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can do a Hard re-set. Hold down the screen lock button and the home button at the same time for 30 seconds. You will lose all your stuff (music, videos). You will then need to restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Then you can reset your pass-code and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this: A. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process will erase all your music, videos etc and cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. B. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer. C. Open iTunes and synchronize.

I have a 2gb ipod nanao that i own but a coupledays ago i locked it by accident and it was given to me by a friend that forgot the password to so i need an unlock for the ipod

I think you are talking about the 4 digit combination lock.

To unlock your ipod connect your it to the first computer it was synced with or the computer set as the primary one in iTunes. Open the iTunes application and let it recognise that your iPod is plugged in, then disconnect your iPod from the computer, and it should no longer be locked. Now reset the pass-code.

If this doesn't work you will have to restore your iPod to factory settings using iTunes, this will wipe all the music form the ipod but u will be able to put this back on later.

To do this open itunes and plug in your iPod then select your ipod and click restore. This process will take a few minutes and the iPod must remain connected at all times until it has finished. When done itunes will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences.

I was looking through my ipod and went to security and accidently clicked screenlock and ever since i havent been able to unlock it

hello,

I’ve have solve a lot of people post questions on other posts here at MDV asking how to unlock the iPod Screen Lock function if you forget the 4 digit combination/pass code, so I figured I would write up a short tutorial here to direct you to unlock yours .

There are basically three ways to unlock the Screen Lock on your iPod:
  1. The most obvious and will not work for most people (or else you wouldn’t be visiting this web site). Simply enter the 4 digit combination/pass code at extras screen lock
  2. Connect your iPod to the first computer it was synced with or the computer set as the primary one in iTunes. Open the iTunes application, then disconnect your iPod from the computer, and it should no longer be locked.
  3. Use this final way only if the first two options do not work for you because it is a destructive process.
  4. please note this Everything on your iPod will be erased.
This should not be a problem if you have all of your songs, videos, and other media stored in iTunes and you can synchronize once again after getting the iPod unlocked.
thank you and thanks for using fixya.
