Caamera won't focus

I have a Canon S3 Powershot. It's always been a great camera but lately is having some "issues". When set on Auto, my camera won't focus on images that are close up (1 ft - 2 ft) when I try to zoom in on them with the zoom. It starts to clear and come into focus as I press half way down on shutter and then blurs as I push the rest of the way. The pictures obviously come out blurry. Am I not supposed to zoom in on close items? I don't remember this ever being a problem in the past. The lens retracts slowly or hesitates and then retracts. Other pictures are fine. The problem seems intermittent. It also seems that my zoom doesn't zoom in as much as it did previously. The macro/supermacro functions work fine it just blurs on auto.

SOURCE: Have a canon digital elph sd750. Pictures are now blurry.

You could have cracked the lens, damage the focus or a number of other things but the lens and focus are most likely. check your lens for scratches if there is none and no cracks take it to your nearest camera store or buy new good luck!

SOURCE: Canon Powershot SX10 IS auto focus unreliable

I don't this its an error. I have used this Canon SX10 IS Camera for nearly a year now I haven't had this kind of problem.

Usually auto focus take few seconds to focus on object depending on distance and lighting. That might be the problem ?

I have a Canon Powershot A630 that will not focus. I have it set on Auto and when I see the image, it is always blurry. I can't get the lens to focus. It goes in and out of focus and settles in bl

Hi!

Make sure your lens is clean and free of any smudges or debris.

Ensure that you are far enough away from your subject that the minimum focusing distance has been achieved

Most auto-focus systems use contrast to detect what needs to be sharp. If you are shooting something that is all the same color, the camera will probably not be able to focus.

Make sure there is plenty of light on the subject; even if to the naked eye it looks like there is light, the camera focus system will have a hard time detecting your subject if it is not extremely well lit.

Hope that helps!

Canon S3 IS - Images are darker or underexposed even in normal ambient light. Started happening just recently

If you are shooting using AUTO mode, maybe the settings were changed to a manual modes. If so, check for settings. Flash fires automatically only in AUTO. On manual modes you must force the flash to fire.

I have a canon powershot s3 is. i have had it a little over a year. It has just started being slow between pics. I thought maybe I had adjusted a setting or something. Or maybe it is just slow. Do you know...

Backup the pictures on your camera and remove any additional extention lenses or attachments. (this can cause focusing delay hence slowing down the process) + Read your manual to find the factory reset option and do the same. will resolve your issue.

Please let me know how this worked

Grainy pictures

grainy pictures are possibly casued by a very high ISO (sensativity) setting, you should be on 100 or lower for best normal shots. Higher settings are for low light and custom shooting in strange lighting or aperature/shutter speeds. Try full auto setting.

Camera takes a few low resolution pictures even when the settings are for high res pictures

You should take your camera to service.

Normal cameras are meant to work above 0 deg C (32 deg F), but usually they work even at -15 C (5 F). When you work below the freeze point there may some anomalies, usually LCD turns blue or purple but photos look OK on a computer. Sometimes the camera refuses to take photos or shows bad focus, lens zoom mechanics get stuck etc. And you always experience significantly shorter battery life when in the cold.

It's a good idea to keep the camera in a warm bag and take it out before shooting. You can also keep it under your coat if you're not practicing a sport like skiing (because of body moisture).
