Outdoor umbrella need to rethread rope on crank mechanism to open
Patio table umbrella rope inside pole which is supposed to be wound around crank mechanism has come undone and cannot rethread it to enable crank to open umbrella.

Not a complete answer but it might help to know the following.
On my umbrella the rope is wound around a pulley such that if you wind it down and keep turning the same way the rope will start to wind back up in the other direction on the pulley and the umbrella will lift again. Maybe the rope on yours is stuck in the middle somehow and when it catches the rope starts winding up in the other direction.
why bother, most of them are made in China and like most stuff we are a throw away society, it will cost you plenty for glue and material if you still chose to fix it, The most I get frmo umbrellas int eh desert sun is barely a year.
