Yes, I just changed thermal fuse on the same model . . . take off the front door, the front panel and there it is; attached to the vent tube with a flimsy bracket

It is located on the heating element airflow tube.
Remove two large bolts located on the lid on the back.
Now the top can slide back and off when you slide it back.
The plastic control panel needs to come off now.
Remove the 4 philips head screws on the top of the plastic panel.
Rotate the top of the sloped panel so it is up and down being careful not to break it.
This will disconnect the bottom of the panel which is latched at the bottom.
Once the panel is loose lay it out of the way on top at the length of the cable.
Remove the two screens on the door hinge.
Remove the lower two screws at the bottom of the dryer opening.
Remove the 4 screws at the top of the front panel.
Lift the front panel, it latches at the bottom to the frame.

On the lower right side is a tube where air is sucked in, heated and pulled into the dryer drum.
Slide the three spade connector pairs that are toward the middle of the dryer from the tstat, themal fuse and heating element. Take note of where they come from.

Remove the one philips screw at the bottom heating tube.
The tube will now slide toward the front of the dryer and come out.
The two devices will measure a minor resistance if they are good.
The heating coil will measure a small resistance.
The thermal fuse looks like a little metal can.

My maytag neptune dryer keeps blowing the thermal fuse

Overheating is almost always an airflow problem. Check airway before the place the fuse is located and the vent pipe and vent after the fuse to make sure they are open, If the airway is clear, the thermostat may be allowing the heating element to stay turned on until the dryer gets too hot,

Maytag dryer MDE9700 AYW We replaced the dryer heating element and the dryer still don't heat can anyone help me figure what parts I need

The heating element connects to a thermal fuse and then to a thermostat. The thermal fuse may be blown. There is no outward sign of failure http://www.appliancepartspros.com/01-blower-heater-parts-for-maytag-mde9700ayw.html

Where is the thermal fuse located

The thermal for the entire dryer is on the blower housing and the one for just the heater is on the heater case.

Can anyone please tell me where the thermal fuse is located for a Maytag Neptune MDE9700AYW

Hello Tom, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by saying your post indicates it is a Maytag MDE9700AYW dryer. I'm not sure if you know this, but this particular Maytag is built by Samsung.

To address your question as to where the thermal fuse is located on your dryer, it is one the heater housing, there is a hi-limit and a thermal fuse. If the Thermal fuse/safety is gone, replace the hi-limit as well.

Here is a chart to identify which thermostat is which and it's location, the resitance value to check for and part number for replacement.

macmarkus_887.jpg

Once you've gain access to them you'll need to remove at least one wire to check the continuity...the values are shown in the above chart (basically it's either open or closed)
As far as part, there are a couple of places I prefer, on-line at "searspartsdirect.com" or "repairclinic.com".

**unplug the appliance and turn off the gas supply before attempting any service...safety first**

Let me know how you make out or if you require further assistance and I'll do whatever I can. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Dryer is hooked up but it will not turn on; no lights, no beeps our Maytag Neptune is model number MDG5500AWQ please help

more then likely it is the thermal fuse:

here is a new one, may be cheaper on eBay or faster to get from a repair/service shop:

http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Thermal-Fuse/2986

here is the location, it is on the bottom of this page, Good Luck Tim:

http://www.applianceaid.com/gas_dryer.html#noheat

As a test you can tape the two wires together, make sure power is off and do not run dryer like this as it will cause a fire.

Hi, my Maytag Neptune gas dryer will not heat up anymore. When the machine start to run, you can hear the gas is burning & the heat is blowing from hot to warm to cold in about 60 to 90 seconds that is...

The thermal fuse is NEVER at fault, it is only a symptom of some other problem and is a serious safety warning. Check that the exhaust vent is clean and not kinked or otherwise obstructed. When WAS the last time you cleaned the vent??

Electric Maytag Neptune Dryer not heating up.

If the dryer won't heat up, the problem is typically either a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. The thermal fuse is located just inside the back of the dryer on or near the exhaust duct. It is about one inch long. The thermal fuse and heating element can be tested using an ohm meter or multimeter. These components should have continuity. If either does not, that component is faulty. There is no telling if the moving around of the machine caused the problem or if the timing of the problem was coincidental. Sure hope this helps ya and best wishes.
