SOURCE: My printer has slowed down drastically in print

I called the company that makes my printer - it's slow now too. After the tech conferred with others, they all concluded that my machine is on its way to dying. Hope that's not your story. (23 Mar 2010)

Printer takes forever to print

How is the printer connected to your computer(s)?
If it is USB or network. Try a different cables.

Does your computer run slow also? Low disk space can cause print jobs to print slowly.

Network issues can cause slow printing as well. If your printer is on network and there is a mismatch of 10/100 Mbps speed or Half/Full duplex, the printing can be slow.

If your OS is Windows, remove the printer from Printers and Faxes. Uninstall the driver package if installed separately. Download the latest drivers and install them and reinstall the printer.

Looses connection with network

Common for this printer. Instead of setting it up as a network printer, attach it locally to a machine and share it. It will be much more stable.

HP P3015 suddenly printing very slowly - about a page a minute

If you unplug the cable from the printer to the PC and print the MENU MAP, does it print slow or at normal speed?
If it prints slow, try following the directions below.
If it prints at normal speed, try removing the printer from the print queue and reinstalling it. Also, download the PCL5 drivers and reinstall it.
Good Luck.

Print a MENU MAP and a CONFIG page.
You will need this info to put the settings back in the printer.
1. Turn the device off.
2. Turn the device on. When the memory count begins, press and hold the CHECK MARK button. Continue holding
down this button until all three device control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This
might take up to 10 seconds.
3. After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press the ^ button
until COLD RESET is highlighted.
4. Press CHECK MARK . The device performs a cold reset and then continues its power-on sequence.
5. Check all I/O settings and reset any customer-set device configuration values.

COLD RESET sets ALL control panel menu items, including network settings back to factory defaults.
This is where the MENU MAP and CONFIG info come into play.

Canon 3300i prints / process very slow

These machines can print slowly for a varity of reasons. First and foremost is using the incorrect driver. The correct driver can be downloaded here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/opd/controller?act=OPDSoftwareAct&fcategoryid=2275&modelid=6349

Also slow printing can be a symtom of a hard drive about to fail (e602 codes).
Fastest printing speeds can be achieved using the following basic assumptions:
1) The copier is printing thru a standard cat5 cable; not thru the parallel port.
2) The network the copier is on is healthy and operating normally.
3) The network settings on the copier are configured correctly.

I am a Canon trained authorized tech on these machines and have been working in the field on the ImageRunner 3300 series since their release. I'm not sure if a ram upgrade is available but I haven't installed one in the six plus years of servicing this machine to fix a slow print problem.

PRINTING PROBLEM

Hi if you are using MS Windows NT based OS when you install the printer do not forget to assign a fixed IRQ else the system waits to allocate a free IRQ at its own time which slows down your comp drastically.

HELP printer is haging up computer

To me, it looks more as a network problem rather than a printer problem. Just to make sure, delete every unused printer drivers from your computer, including the SCX-4521f. Unused printer drivers take up memory and CPU resources of your computer, even if they are not being used. The second common issue on slow computers is an excess of installed fonts. If you have more than 300 fonts installed, you need a cleanup.

Finally, install the SCX-4521 as a local printer only on your computer and print some tests. If they come out at decent speed, get a real computer technician to diagnose your network. If it doesn't, you need to further clean your computer's registry. It is most probably loading drivers, data and files from deleted applications. You can download a very good cleaning utility called Ccleaner on the Internet. Also check for possible virus using Panda or Kapesky antivirus. Good luck.

Sharing srp350 network printer on win98 to winxp

You are correct with the conflict, although, it's a difference in drivers, i think what has happened is when you share a printer with xp, it installs the driver from the pc with the driver and printer attached, and as it is attached to a win98 pc, the full functions are probably unavailable, unlike an xp local driver.
