I am not sure what you want because the mathIO mode IS THE ONE THAT DISPLAYS results as fractions.
You have two display modes: MthIO (with fractions, radicals) and LineIO (with decimals). Which one do you want?
To set MthIO press [Shift][MODE][1:MthIO]
To set LineIO, press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO]

Concerning the scientific display mode.
Decimal numbers can be displayed in various formats, Fixed,Scientific, and Normal. If you do not want scientific display of results, just set the mode to Fix(ed) and specify the number of decimal digits. However if a number to be displayed (a result) is too small or too large IT WILL BE DISPLAYED in scientific format regardless of the mode you selected.

Get rid of scientific c notation

From the other question posted it appears that your problem is not with the scientific display, rather it is with decimal representation (approximate) or fraction/radical (exact). representation.
If your results are in fraction/radical form press the [S<>D] key to switch from one to the other.
The calculator is by default in the MATHIO t output mode: results are in fraction/radical form.
If you don't like to work with this mode just change the IO mode to LineIO. To do so, press [SHIFT][Mode](Setup) and selct 2:LineIO

There seems to be two completely different issues here.

By default the calculator will try to show a symbolic result. 1 divided by 120 is 1 over 120, after all. If you don't want to see fractions at all, press SHIFT MODE 2 to switch to the LineIO mode.

The other is the display mode. 1/120 is about 0.0083. Again, by default, the calculator automatically switches to scientific notation for numbers whose magnitude is less than .01, so it shows the number as 8.3x10-3. To change this, you have two choices. Press SHIFT MODE 6 to select the fixed decimal mode, and the calculator will prompt for the number of digits to the right of the decimal. Alternatively, press SHIFT MODE 8 2 to select the Norm2 mode. This won't switch to scientific notation until the magnitude of the number drops below 10-9.

Calculators only have two choices when a number gets close to zero. It can either round it off to zero, or switch to scientific notation. It doesn't matter how many digits the calculator can display, at some point it has to make the choice.

My Casio fx-115 ES Natural Display is solving 21.9 in a fraction when I put the calculator in scientific mode.... Why?

If the calculator is in the MthIO mode it will always attempt to display the result as a fraction. To convert a single result to decimal, press SD. To have the result always come out in decimal (according to the selected display mode), press SHIFT MODE 2 to select the LineIO mode.

Trying to get calculator to display in scientific notation

Press the [SHIFT][MODE] to access the (SETUP) screen. -See the screen capture below. Press [7:Sci] to select the output display format to be Scientific.
You will then be prompted to key in a number between 0 and 9 to choose the number of decimal digits.

If you do not want fractions nor radicals set the default Input/Output format to LineIO.
To do so press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO]. After that perform the steps given above to select Scientific format for the output.

How to change or put math mode without fractions or scientific notation on calculator fx-155 es natural display

Press SHIFT MATH 2 to switch to the LineIO mode. You won't see fractions then. However, if magnitude of the number is too large or too small, the calculator will switch to scientific notation in order to fit into the display.

CASIO 300 FX ES I NEED ASSISTANCE TO CONVERT MY CALCULATOR BACK TO ORIGINAL MODE FOR REGULAR MATH CALCULATIONS.

Hello,
Press [SHIFT][MODE][6:Fix] and press a numbetr between (0--9). The number you select will be the number of decimal places your results have. However if a result is smaller than 0.001 it will be in scientific notation.

Hope it helps.

Comments: Oct 10, 2009 - Your question is not clear. What is regular math equation? When you talk about scientific and engineering notation, the reader assumes you have a problem with these and shows you how to recover the "regular" display format , the "normal" format.
Since that is not what ails the calculator, I am going to assume you want to go back to the MathIO input format that allows you manipulate fractions and radicals and logs in bases other than 10 and e. To get that mode
Press [SHIFT][MODE][1:MathIO]

If on the other hand, you want the input format that is prevalent in the previous generation of scientific calculators, namely the LineIO, then you restore it by pressing
[SHIFT][MODE[2:LineIO].
If that does not answer your question, then what is your question?

Scientific notation

Hello,
I found a way to show you how to enter it on your calculator. Make sure you are in Math Input Output (MathIO). To effect that press [SHIFT][MODE][1:MathIO]. Calculator clears its screen
Press [SHIFT] then [Fraction template key] the one just below [calc]. I will show an image of the template in a picture below. Then you enter 4.6x85000 in the upper square of the template. Press the [Down Arrow] to move cursor to the lower square and key in 3570x0.0843. Then use [Arrow right] to move cursor to the level of the fraction line and press [=]. Hope it helps.
