I bought a Panasonic 42" Plasma th-42pwd8 from a hotel. The monitor had the menu, and channel buttons disabled through "Hotel mode". It did not come with a remote. How do I unlock the buttons?

Press both Menu buttons for 10 seconds
Simultaneously press and hold MENU buttons on the remote app and on the TV itself. The factory menu should appear. Let go of the MENU buttons and press one of them again once (either on TV or on the remote app). Now you should be able to disable hotel mode.

Getting out of the hotel mode is very easy. Just go get the Panasonic remote and open your tv. Go near the tv and hold down the V/- button on the television itself. Then use the remote and press the AV button for 3 times. A hidden menu on the television screen will appear. Turn off the "Hotel Mode" from the menu and exit. Do not touch anything from the hidden menu except the hotel mode. Now you can use your tv in normal mode. The remote is required to access the hidden menu so be sure your remote is working and has working or full charged battery before doing the steps above

The following are for LG TVs: From your remote, push MENU button for 5 seconds then type 1105 and press OK. You should now have a special menu displayed where you can modify the settings or disable hotel mode. Use the same procedure to go back and modify or enable hotel mode.

Try a replacement remote control. A good one is a Philips Universal which can be found at Walmart or Right-aid. Around $14 bucks, and is very modern and up to date for just about all flat panel sets. (It's also a learning remote, so it will learn remotes).

Please go to menu-settings and select factory default settings and retry.

M (menu) 7935 (regular menu appears), them press 4725 (menu service appears), then search HTLSRC (position 090), then set value 032 (this value disables Hotel Mode) - TV. Now Hotel Mode is deactivated. It is verified!

YOU WILL NEED THE SPECIAL REMOTE TO DO THIS. AND I THINK SOME OF THEM HAVE ABILITY IN SERVICE MENU TO TURN OFF HOTEL MODE. OR YOU CAN TRY USING ANY PHILLIPS/MAGNAVOX REMOTE WITH THE STATUS BUTTON AND TRY THIS.
PRESS MENU-9-6-5-2-STATUS AND YOU SHOULD BE IN THE SERVICE MODE TURN OFF THE HOTEL MODE

I had the same problem the solution is you have to get institutional remote and reset the tv from commercial mode to consumer mode and then you will have access to the full menu. go to www.phillipsitv.com to get the directions. I actually asked a Hotel could I borrow their master remote used it and took it back and my tv works fine. Hope this helps.
